Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: The Penniless Madam, A Lesson in Criticism

Afterward, Kael took out the Hundred Ghost Banner he had previously refined and merged the newly made one into it. Several human skins fused together, greatly increasing its power. If the earlier banner was a defective product, then after merging these skins, it became an inferior product. Not quite genuine, but no longer defective.

Then Kael cast a spell, refining several skinless yakuza alive into Flesh Pills. This time, he used living people, making the pills far superior to those made from corpses. The vitality within them was abundant.

Next, he summoned the guards at the door, skinned them to refine more banners, and turned their flesh into additional Flesh Pills. Thus, he gained more pills, and the banner's power grew stronger. Their souls did not escape either—Kael devoured them, turning them into nourishment for his demonic arts. From body to soul, they contributed greatly. Truly, they were "good people."

When it was all over, only Kael and the unconscious Mrs. Yoshida remained alive. He stepped forward, dragged her up, and slapped her awake.

She opened her eyes groggily, saw Kael's face, and screamed, retreating in terror. She had never seen such cruelty—skinning men alive.

Too brutal.

Could a human do this? He was like a demon.

"Silence." Kael's cold gaze swept over her, his voice sharp.

She froze, feeling like a beast had locked onto her, instinctively closing her mouth, trembling.

Kael said coldly: "Mrs. Yoshida, today's events are known only to you and me. I don't want a third person to know. I trust you don't want to vanish from this world."

She realized the room was filled with blood but no trace of the yakuza. Had they truly vanished? Fear filled her eyes. "I… I understand. I won't tell anyone. Please, don't kill me."

Seeing she was terrified, Kael softened his tone. "Don't worry. You're Yoshida-san's mother. Unless absolutely necessary, I won't kill you. The loan sharks are dead. You no longer need to fear debt collectors."

Hearing this, joy flickered across her face. She had borrowed thirty million yen—enough to crush most families. Now, knowing she didn't have to repay, she was ecstatic.

But then sorrow returned. Though the debt was gone, her husband had been fired for misconduct. With that stain, finding work again would be difficult. Without income, their family couldn't live as before. Even survival would be hard. Thinking of her bleak future, she grew despondent.

Kael didn't understand her shifting emotions, but ignored them. He opened a cabinet, revealing a safe. Using the password he had gleaned from the boss's soul, he unlocked it.

Inside, the upper layer was filled with stacks of ten-thousand-yen notes, totaling tens of millions. Below were gold bars and documents. Among them was Mrs. Yoshida's loan contract. Kael burned the contracts, preventing trouble. Then he took all the money and gold. From now on, this ill-gotten wealth was his. Enough to live lavishly for years.

"Renjou-kun." Her voice came from behind.

He turned to see Mrs. Yoshida eyeing the money and gold. He understood, waved a stack of bills, and asked: "You want this?"

Embarrassed, she nodded. "Renjou-kun, you know Saki's father lost his job. We have no income. Though the debt is gone, our savings are nearly gone. Could you…"

Kael sneered. "Thick-skinned. First you wanted to sell your daughter to repay debt, now you want to borrow from her boyfriend. Why would I lend to you? Because you're a mother willing to sell her daughter?"

Mrs. Yoshida hesitated, then slowly undressed, revealing her mature figure. She pressed herself against Kael, her body soft and alluring. "Renjou-kun, Saki is still just a child. What she can give you, I can give too."

Kael laughed coldly. "To seduce your daughter's boyfriend for money—you're truly a fine mother."

He had known she had no bottom line, willing to sell her daughter for comfort. But he hadn't expected her limits to be even lower. This demanded criticism. He had to make her understand who was truly in control.
