[Hidden Cave - Human Survivor Camp]
Major Ryan stood at the cave entrance, scanning the forest with experienced eyes.
The past week had been tense with everyone constantly expecting Giant patrols to discover their location.
But strangely, the searches had moved away from their area, the Giants apparently focusing their efforts elsewhere.
"Think we're safe here long-term?"
Marcus Feng asked from beside him, the businessman-turned-soldier having become Ryan's de facto second-in-command.
"No location is safe long-term. But this cave is defensible and hidden. We've expanded it enough to house everyone comfortably. The water source is nearby as well as edible plants in the surrounding forest."
Ryan's military pragmatism kept his assessment realistic.
"We can survive here for months if necessary, assuming the Giants don't stumble onto us."
