Luther POV

"Are you crazy?" I demanded of my brother as soon as the royal carriage had pulled far enough away that its gilded wheels no longer rattled in our ears. My voice was a low, jagged rasp.

I wasn't just angry at his lack of restraint; I was vibrating with the reflected heat of his fury. Through the bond, his rage felt like a swarm of hornets under my skin.

"I won't let him talk about our father like that," Elias snapped. His eyes were still glazed with that dangerous, violet-tinged gold.

He looked like he was ready to sprint after the carriage and tear the door off its hinges with his bare hands. "He stands there in his silks, smelling of jasmine and cowardice, acting as if he didn't watch our legacy burn from the safety of his balcony."

I could see how much the events were affecting him.
