Chapter 2 - The Storm Child

Chapter 2: The Storm Child

The sky broke open before sunrise.

One moment, the village of SameLine was quiet. The next, the wind rose like a hungry beast. Clouds twisted, forming a dark circle above one small house the home of Sara and Mike, a humble couple who had been waiting for their first child.

Rain fell, not softly, but like stones thrown from the sky. Thunder cracked the air. The ground trembled as if the earth itself was afraid.

Inside the house, Sara was screaming as she pushed, her hands gripping the cloth sheets. Mike held her, shaking, trying to stay calm, but his voice kept breaking.

"It's okay, Sara… you're strong… just breathe…"

But Sara felt it.

Something was different.

Something powerful was entering the world through her.

Outside, people ran around crying:

"God is angry!"

"This storm will kill us all!"

"Run to the caves!"

Children were carried on backs. Doors slammed. Fires died in the wind. Even strong men shook in fear as they sprinted toward the mountain caves.

But Sara and Mike did not leave.

They couldn't.

It was too late

the baby was coming.

Lightning struck the ground not far from the house.

The roof shook.

A window shattered.

Wind howled like a screaming monster.

Just then

a sound cut through the storm.

A small, soft cry.

A baby's cry.

Mia had entered the world.

Sara looked at her daughter with tears streaming down her face not from pain anymore, but from awe. Mia's eyes were bright, strange, almost glowing faintly. Her tiny fingers curled in the air like she could feel everything around her.

Mike wrapped the child in a soft yellow cloth, breathing fast.

"She's beautiful… look at her, Sara… she's—"

But the house shook again.

Harder this time.

The storm didn't calm.

It grew angrier.

Sara's smile faded.

Something was terribly wrong.

Mike looked toward the window.

His voice cracked.

"Sara… the storm is centered on us."

The truth hit them both at the same time.

The Wise Man's prophecy.

A child who would bring rain…

born with a storm.

Sara, weak but determined, whispered:

"We must keep her safe… no matter what…"

Mike nodded, holding both Sara and the baby close.

But the storm was not done.

A blast of lightning struck the house.

The front door flew open.

Rain rushed inside like a river.

The world roared.

Mia cried louder, her voice rising above the thunder as if her cry was part of the storm.

Mike tried to shield them, but the wind was too strong.

Another lightning bolt hit the ground just meters away.

The floor cracked.

The walls shook.

The roof began to break.

Sara held her baby tight and whispered:

"Mia… my sweet girl… forgive us…"

In the final moment, the storm entered the house with full force, striking everything in its path.

When the clouds cleared hours later, the storm finally died.

The villagers slowly came out of the caves, shaking, scared, coughing from the dust. They walked down the hill toward SameLine with careful steps, expecting destruction…and they found it.

Trees were torn out from the ground.

Houses broken.

Mud everywhere.

But one sight froze their hearts:

The small stone house of Sara and Mike…

collapsed.

Silent.

Gone.

Inside the rubble, they found two bodies

the parents, still holding each other tightly.

But next to them, wrapped in the yellow cloth…

A baby girl, alive.

Untouched by the storm.

Her eyes wide open.

The elders gasped in fear.

"It's her!"

"She caused the storm!"

"She is cursed!"

"She killed her own parents!"

The baby didn't understand any of their words.

She only looked up at the sky…

and the sky looked calm for the first time that day.

One woman stepped forward

Sofia, the old woman who had never had a child of her own.

Her heart softened as she looked at the orphan baby.

"She is not cursed," Sofia said, picking Mia up with gentle hands.

"She is innocent. And she will not be alone."

But the villagers only whispered:

"That child brings storms…"

"She will bring trouble…"

"She should not stay here…"

They didn't know it yet,

but the prophecy had chosen its path.

And this was only the beginning of Mia's story.
