It was a deal with the devil, and Ye Jun knew it. But the need for protection outweighed the danger the stranger carried. So, he trusted his instincts and decided to take this risk.
And of course, there was also the fact that he could get Attributes from her.
He brought the stranger inside his hut and lit up the lanterns, illuminating his humble home with barely any materials inside.
"Is this where you live?" Meihui asked, a little surprised. "How can anyone live in this... what even is this?"
"What are you, a princess?" Ye Jun rolled his eyes. "It's called a hut, for your information, and yes, this is where I live. If you have a problem, then our deal is off sadly and you'll have to find another good resting place."
Meihui seemed to go through some inner conflict before she sighed. "Whatever. I'll stay here. Now, can you please go outside so I can change my clothes and apply herbs on my wounds?"
"Sure thing. But do you want to bathe first?" he asked. "I can fetch you some water."
"You want to peek at me," Meihui narrowed her eyes at him. "Pervert!"
"Stop right there! I like women, but that doesn't mean you can accuse me like that," Ye Jun quickly held up his hand and said. "Second, weren't you trying to seduce me earlier?"
Meihui turned her face away. "It was just to take advantage of you. I planned to threaten you and stay at your place until I recovered."
"Wow! You're one shitty kind of person," Ye Jun clapped.
"Tsk! It's not like I was going to kill you," Meihui clicked her tongue. "And you saw through it anyway. I still can't understand how you did that with your Sixth-Stage Body Strengthening Realm cultivation."
'So she can easily sense my cultivation. Definitely above Soul Tempering.' Ye Jun noted before shrugging. "It's because you're a terrible actor. And you're a virgin."
"What does me being a virgin have to do with this?"
Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, Meihui snapped at him as a terrible invisible pressure fell upon him, but the next second, she coughed up blood and fell on her knees as all the pressure disappeared.
'Man, she's strong. Are you sure this is the right decision, buddy?'
Ye Jun shook his head and helped her to sit on the bed. "Being a virgin isn't a problem, but you pretended to be a temptress while having no clue how that works. Even that moan was so fake I cringed."
Meihui's face turned red in embarrassment as she thought, 'I tried my best, all so that a kid can say all of it was for nothing? Who does he think he is? My charms are nonexistent?'
Ye Jun saw her face and blinked in confusion. Did he hit a nerve perhaps?
'She looks in her mid-twenties, so I thought she'd be a little mature. I guess I really shouldn't judge people by appearance.'
He stood up and said, "I'll go arrange the water. And don't worry, I won't look at you."
Somehow, that irked Meihui even more for no reason. She couldn't even understand why she was pissed at those words, even though she should be happy.
Ye Jun didn't notice any of this and simply went to the Mercy River and brought some cool water for her. Then, he realized another problem he hadn't thought of before.
'What the hell? I don't even have a bathroom?'
He couldn't believe he hadn't noticed it at all.
Sighing, he picked up some leftover wood and quickly built a small room with a stone floor and some other basic facilities available in a bathroom.
'Though I'll need to do something for shitting. God, who would have thought that I would transmigrate and my problems would be not having a place to shit!'
Ye Jun cursed his shitty fate and continued building the bathroom. It took around an hour, but he was happy with the progress. He didn't have to do much in there, so it was quick.
He set up the water basins inside along with some herbs that could be used as soap replacements.
Once he was done, he went back to his hut and found Meihui sitting on the ground in the lotus position. Her eyes closed, calm breathing, and straightened posture.
Ye Jun could feel a strangeness from her, but couldn't pinpoint what it was, so he just shook his head and began making some food while waiting for her.
"Skinhead, deadhead, everyone's gone bad!" he sang the song quietly. "Situation aggravation, everybody allegations! In the news, on the news, everybody dog food!"
He spun and smiled.
"Bang bang! Shock dead, everyone's gone mad! All I wanna say is they don't really care about us! All I wanna say is they don't really care about us!"
Before long, Meihui opened her eyes and stared at him with her big eyes. Ye Jun's attention had gone directly to them the first time he saw her. Those large, purple-blue eyes held a strange attraction in them.
"What is it?" he asked without turning back. "I've arranged the bath, so go and take it while I make food for us."
"I'm just baffled," she admitted.
"On what?"
"All of this!" she replied in a rather high-pitched voice. "How can you act so nonchalant? Doesn't this situation weird you out? You let a stranger into your house and now you're cooking for her while basically planning to live with her?"
Ye Jun paused. He hadn't considered how this would come off to others, but she was right. This was going too fast and anyone would find it weird and strange.
It was just that his perception had long become broken on these things. Adapting to situations had become second nature to him after living that life.
In fact, he considered this normal compared to many things he had dealt with in the past, so he didn't even realize how it might come off to the other party.
'I should work on this,' he cleared his throat and said, "I'm just a practical man and can adapt to situations. Even if this is bizarre, what can I do but move forward with it? I suggest you do the same."
He gave her a side smile and said, "Focus on the present and what you can do to make it better, not the past."
He chuckled and waved his hand. "Anyways, go and do your work. We have things to discuss once you're done."
