Chapter 7 - Testimony of The Past

Sunny woke up, taking in a steady breath. He looked around; the body of the vile thieving bird lay a few meters from him. He probably got knocked out the moment it had thrown him off itself. Nonetheless, it was dead; even if the state Sunny was in was pretty dire, [Blood Weave] was holding up, unallowing him to bleed out.

The moment has finally arrived, the moment that Sunny was waiting for the last few years, the moment he dreaded the most; he opened his runes.

Name: Sunless

True Name: Lost from Light

Rank: Supreme

and down in the bottom

Master: Changing Star

Everything was back to what it was; he had regained his fate alongside his true name, thus becoming a slave once again, yet this time willingly.

He closed them, took a deep breath, and collapsed, whispering to the emptiness around him.

"Guess I am no longer free."

He laughed, yet it wasn't a totally joyful laugh; a hint of desperation lingered in it, a faint trail of sadness and regret, but also hope, which had burned in his soul for a long time now.

It took him a bit of time, as many thoughts were racing in his mind, including his friends, Nephis, and also his sister, but it dawned on him. Where the heck was the witness? He stood up, looked around and far away he spotted the body of the Great Titan laying there, unmoving.

He ran towards it. It wasn't like Sunny had been truly friends with the creature, yet a feeling akin to closeness existed between them. The body of the Great Titan was mangled; many scars spread across its torso, inflicted by the talons of the Vile Bird, but the most grievous injury it had was 3 holes in its chest. The Witness didn't move at first, only when it sensed that Sunny was near a weak, hoarse voice escaped from it.

"Is... it... dead... Little Shadow?"

"it is."

Sunny responded it was obvious to him that The Witness was mortally wounded when he looked into his being; his 7 soul cores were shattering. The blow that was aimed for Sunny would have killed him, yet he took it anyways. Sunny couldn't fathom why a creature that has been alive for thousands of years, if not more, decided that his life was more worthy than its.

"Why did you do it... Why did you take the blow... You knew it would have killed you."

The witness moved his body slowly; it started to fade into sparks of light.

"Because I have many regrets in my life Little Shadow, nobody is there for me, just me with the memory of the ones i held close, but for you it's different; you have a whole realm thats counting on you."

The Witness was silent for a while

"Don't fail as I did..."

The body of the Great Titan had mostly disappeared. Sunny didn't know what to feel; he wasn't close with the creature, and it was corrupted after all. Nothenels, he pitied it and felt empathy towards it, maybe because he could see himself in him. Before Sunny could say anything, the witness beat him with that.

"I think my time has come, Little Shadow. I am grateful that I had the occasion to talk with you; the moments we shared were the happiest I had in a long time..."

Sunny looked at the overgrown cat with a sense of hollowness in his eyes; 4 of the creature's soul cores had crumbled already. It had less than a few minutes left to live. It wasn't the first time that Sunny held a dying person in his arms, yet he never grew accustomed to the feeling.

"I am also grateful that i met you, Overgrown cat."

A laugh escaped the witness.

"Thats the first time someone called me that... I have a last request Little Shadow."

Sunny got closer to the creature as its voice became weaker with each word.

"Remember me, Sunless, please... I don't want to be forgotten..."

With a somber expression, Sunny responded.

"I will, I promise."

Having said that, most of the body of the creature had already disappeared, but instead of nothing, a hand caressed Sunny's cheek; it belonged to a man with strong features and long hair. He was beautiful. His body was made entirely of white light, he whispered to Sunny with eyes full of gratefulness.

"Thank you ... Elinior."

With that, the figure disappeared; the silence was broken after a while by a quiet voice

[You have slain Great Titan, Witness.]

[You have received a memory, Testimony of the Past]

A new chapter of his life was in infront of Sunnles, one full of hardships troubles, yet he was ready to face what fate was going to throw at him.

Because if it's him... Who dares to stop him?

Wow, chills, literal chills. I am very grateful that I was able to finish this fanfic before my academic comeback (it's not happening lol). It had been a good run; I still remember the excitement I got within the first few hours after having posted the fanfic. It had already reached 1k views. I tried to do my best, and I hope you liked the story of the Witness and Sunny. It didn't exactly go as I first planned out, but life is that way; we can never know what the future holds for us.

Soon I will start to work on my very first novel. If you want, guys, I can post a quick notice on the thread if the moderators will allow it (I won't ask, though; I'm too scared)

Also, I have another idea for a fanfic, something akin to Shadow Slave: Not a very laid-back life. by Kreakers or Shadow Slave: Error by Luukkk, but that in the future, maybe during summer, though. If you really want it, maybe we could, idk, reach 100 collections here of Testimony of The Past, but that is just a small add-on, right?

Again I hope you guys liked it and what can I say? Mr. Walnut out for a while

Happy Easter
