I landed my airship on the mountains and got out, painting blue and black markings on the ship. Ney'tar showed me battle paint patterns of his clan. I used the paint the clan gave me when I first joined and applied it to the ship. I got inside and closed the door, then hit the button to refill the pilot compartment with breathable air. I took off the mask, opened a mirror compartment, and painted the lines on my face. Looking at my reflection, I saw changes that weren't there before. The look in my eyes, no more dark glances like on Earth. Pandora did change me, but changed me for the better.
I saw someone land nearby, and my eyes widened at the Ikran and the rider. Mewsia, and that's my avatar! But its eyes are completely white. What the- I put on my mask, got out of the airship and made my way over. Mewsia lowered her head, and my avatar made its way down and kneeled. This makes no sense, but then again, Pandora has been messing with my head since day one. I painted the markings on my avatar's face and arms. I saw my avatar was holding my gun and had ammo on the belt. My avatar stood up and got back on Mewsia.
I went back to the airship. I know this isn't how Avatars work, it makes no sense what is happening. Maybe Eywa heard a prayer and listened. I got in my airship and got ready to take part in the war to come. Starting up my airship, I stayed out of sight as Jake and the other clans, including Ney'tar's clan. I clicked the side piece for communication with Ney'tar on the throat microphone.
"Ney'tar, you there?" I asked. I saw Ney'tar move to the throat microphone.
"I'm here," he said.
"Good," I said as the RDA were coming far below. "Let's get to work."
I drove the airship, and that's when the clans of Pandora struck from above. I flew down in the airship and began to fire at the RDA. My avatar was firing at the RDA while on Mewsia. The battle was everywhere and anywhere. A second ship came in, firing at the RDA; it must be a friend of Jake's piloting it. I kept firing and aiming for Quartich's airship like the other pilot. They couldn't focus on one without getting hit by the other. Until I got hit in the engine.
"Shit!" I frantically moved to get cover. My avatar flew in on Mewsia, and started firing and hit one engine right when Jake got the other, causing it to plummet.
"Ruby!" I heard Ney'tar say into the device.
"I'm hit!" I said into the microphone. "I can't control it!"
"Jump!" He said, flying closer.
"Are you insane?!"
"Jump, Ruby!" He flew close to the opening. "I will catch you!"
You're insane," I said, picking up the mask. "But I'm just as insane for following it!"
I put on the mask, I opened the airship and jumped out as it fell. Ney'tar caught me before I could fall any lower. then flew off with me, setting me in front of him as he brought me into the battlefield.
"I need to get control of my avatar," I said as he carried me on his Ikran.
"The space you live in, it is at the home tree on Omatakaya." Ney'tar said as we flew over. I saw many untamed Ikran flying into the battle.
"You moved it?" I looked back at him past my mask.
"Yes, in case you needed it." He said, landing beside my living space.
"Go find my avatar!" I told him as I jumped off.
"Be careful, Ruby," he said as he took off, and I went inside. I rushed into the compression space and made it to the airlock where the link bed is. I threw off my mask and climbed in as fast as I could. Once inside, I made the mind transfer. When I opened my eyes, my avatar was in a tree, firing at Quartch, drawing his attention away from Jake.
"Jake!" I called down and moved out of sight as gunfire came my way from the old bastard. The second I heard I hit, I turned and fired again. A Na'vi woman came in, firing arrows at Quartch. The woman landed two arrows to Quartch's chest, killing him. I sighed in relief. He's dead and gone. I watched from this distance, and Jake and the woman embraced. Wow, Jake actually managed to grow a pair and find a woman, just had to look on another planet.
I left quickly, keeping out of sight. Then I called over Mewsia, she came down and picked me up, flying off. I let out a shout of victory as we flew high into the sky. I looked out, and there, Ney'tar came flying.
"Ruby!" He called as he flew closer.
"Ney'tar! are the rest okay?" I asked.
"Yes, we lost some, most of the clans do," He said as we flew.
"I'm so sorry," I said,
"Don't be," he said. "This wasn't on you; you fought your heart out to protect Pandora today."
I gave him a small smile, but I still couldn't help this feeling. We went back to the home tree, and I had Mewsia take it to a river near Ney'tar's home. When we set it in a safe place, we landed in the higher floating mountains and got off our Ikran.
"Well, that happened." I said,
"It was," Ney'tar said.
"Yeah," I look to him. "Ney'tar,"
"Hm?" he looked at me.
"Look over there for A sec," I said, and he looked over to where I pointed, "I just saw-"
In that split second, I kissed his cheek, then ran ahead and jumped from the floating mountains. Mewsia dove after me and caught me before flying off. I heard Ney'tar frantically call my name.
"Sorry! can't hear you bye!" I called back and flew off on Mewsia. I began to bump my head against Mewsia's head. "Why did I do that?"
"can't take on a mate?" Mewsia asked through the connection.
"Wha- I don't want to hear it from the Ikran who kills other Ikran and is too dangerous to be approached by males to mate!" I snapped at her, and Mewsia quickly turned her head forward with a growl. Looks like this will be a messy life going forward.
