The Grayscale Wolf that was attacking him from behind smashed hard into the dirt. It landed with a heavy thud, and the golden flames from Huang Shi's earlier strike seared its fur and blood. The beast kicked its legs and whined, struggling with all its might to get back on its feet, but its movements were slow and shaky.
Without giving the beast any time to stand, Huang Shi rushed straight towards it. His feet kicked up clumps of soft earth as he moved. His eyes were glowing with a fierce, bright golden light that looked like two small suns.
Let's test something out...
Huang Shi gave a terrifying smile, his teeth bared. The golden flames that surrounded his right fist started to concentrate, pulling inward and getting tighter around his knuckles.
This made the heat even more unbearable than before. The temperature around his hand rose so high that the green grass by his feet started to turn brown, curl up, and catch fire before he even touched it.
WHOOSH!
Without any hesitation, Huang Shi punched straight down at the fallen wolf. He aimed his glowing fist right at the center of its head.
[Sunfyre Blaze Fist]
BOOM!
A massive explosion erupted from the point of contact. The force of the blow was so great that the wolf's head exploded in a mass of blood and gore. The poor creature didn't even have a single second to cry out in pain. Within a heartbeat, the powerful golden flames spread across its skin and bones, incinerating its entire body into a pile of gray ash.
One down... two more to go...
Huang Shi quickly shifted his attention behind him. The other wolves were cold and heartless; they acted as if they didn't even see their stronger comrade get destroyed by a single punch.
They didn't stop or run away. Instead, they pounced toward him at the same time. One wolf aimed its yellow teeth at his legs, while the other tried to dig its sharp claws into his left arm.
Without hesitation, Huang Shi used his Sunfyre flames to ignite his own body. The golden fire wrapped around him from head to toe, making him look like a god of fire standing in the middle of the rainforest.
He rushed toward the wolf that was taking a shot at his legs. Using his own leg in retaliation, he swung a heavy kick straight toward the incoming beast's chest.
BOOM!
Another powerful explosion rocked the small clearing. The second wolf exploded in a haze of blood and bright flames. Its body was ripped apart by the blast, slowly turning into drifting ash just like the first one.
This time, his reflexes weren't fast enough to handle both. The remaining wolf capitalized on his distraction, successfully landing a hard swipe on his left arm. He felt the full weight of the beast as its sharp claws tore through the air.
Thankfully, the Cinderveil robes he was wearing were very effective and strong. They blocked most of the damage from the blow, so the claws did not reach his skin, but Huang Shi still grimaced in pain from the heavy impact of the hit.
Fucking mutt.
Pure anger filled Huang Shi's eyes as he looked at the beast. He raised his right hand, pulling his fingers into a claw shape, and reached toward the last wolf.
The beast was now trying to back off to his left side. It looked very afraid now that it saw its attack had done almost no damage to this human.
The wolf was way too slow. Before it could take even a few steps back toward the trees, Huang Shi reached out and grabbed its massive, hairy back. His grip was like iron. Golden flames flared out from his palm and fingers, starting to burn the wolf alive while it was still standing.
AWOO!!
The wolf let out a long, high scream of agony as its fur and skin were turned into black charcoal right in front of him. Huang Shi did not hesitate or show any mercy. He raised his left hand, clenched it into a fist, and smashed it into the wolf's forehead. The heat was so intense that it burned the wolf's brain into ash instantly, ending its life.
Huang Shi started to breathe heavily. It was clear that he was not used to fighting yet. He had consumed a lot more spiritual energy than he thought he should have for such a short battle.
I definitely need more damn practice.
Fortunately for him, he didn't have to wait very long. The cave he had chosen for his breakthrough suddenly echoed with the sound of many wolves howling. More and more wolves began to emerge from the dark entrance.
1... 2... 5...
He tried to count how many Grayscale Wolves were coming out of the cave. He started to shiver a bit as he realized he had made a big miscalculation somewhere.
Fuck… there's a total of seven Elementary Profound Grayscale Wolves. All of them are between the 6th and the 9th level of the Elementary Profound Realm.
However, that was not the thing Huang Shi was most worried about. He stared at the two massive Grayscale Wolves at the back, who were looking at him with a menacing glare.
These wolves were not like the others. They were huge, around five meters in length, with sharp claws and long fangs. But that wasn't even the thing that bothered him most.
These bastards don't even have any fur... they are just covered in damn scales.
Huang Shi squinted his eyes at the scene. These two Alpha Grayscale Wolves were covered in shimmering gray scales from head to tail. They looked like a strange mix between an armadillo and a wolf. They looked very dangerous.
Thankfully, both of them are only at the 1st level of the Nascent Profound Realm. If they were any higher than that, I would be screwed.
Huang Shi clenched his fists tight. He felt both fear and excitement. This was clearly the real challenge he had been looking for.
