Eugene stands with shaking legs in the air, undoubtedly knowing that he is just like a soul. In Pathless's eyes, he was nothing—sort of a genius, yet a hopeless little child.
Eugene was an unfortunate child who grew up rough in a world of magic; he only has inventory. Of course, Eugene was called a genius and was even praised by geniuses, but that wasn't something that would ensure Eugene's pride.
In a magic academy, you either need to be a royal to have a connection to it. In truth, having looks and popularity is another way to become a non-targeted student.
At the end of the day, Pathless didn't know much, but could tell Eugene was an amateur when it came to fighting. Pathless even noticed that he was actually wearing glasses the first time he arrived, since he saw a broken glass on the ground.
Eugene was initially a genius. People wanted to belittle him and his knowledge as far as it goes. Eugene had made a medicine for an incurable disease—that's how he ended up on this island.
Pathless felt a sense of curiosity toward this magic, facts, and knowledge he never possessed. Yet he felt that it wasn't just a system, or that he had a knack for magic.
It was all thanks to the nerdy student, Eugene.
Eugene, shocked by the fact that he was going to take over his body back, heard Pathless say, slightly smirking, "Fine then, go to hell, since you're basically dead without a body..."
Eugene swallowed while clearing his throat, thinking about the situation as he always does—overanalyzing. In a moment, he thought, "I was just a nerd. I really, really liked being a nerd, and I liked it too much as well. But what is that? I don't seem to accept the fact that I'm a genius... in a single subject. As a medicine creator who is just considered a nerd... I have been discriminated against, bullied, and hated by everyone. Yet I continued and survived until the day I was thrown on the goblins' island—our most hated enemies' territory—as a fun channel of a sky dive. Such an annoying life. I thought I was dead, and now I'm faced with getting back and fighting for myself..."
He approached his body and pressed on his heart, and as Pathless flew out of the body slowly, he entered. Fused with the body, he unified back. The true owner of the body—EUGENE—is back.
In a second, his body swelled, and all the sweat was revolving around his body. Each droplet had a raging energy ready to burst.
He seemed colder than he had ever been in his entire life. Pathless noticed the fact that he was just in a rage mode. The one who was truly hurt, who had experienced every big and small thing that happened—the one and only owner of the body—is the only one who can actually be emotional. Even Pathless knows that he can only act as if he is emotional without even feeling it. This whole time, deceiving the whole divine broadcast was all he thought of. In the end, emotions are fuel... The human body experiences a high surge of energy when it's on fire...
And when it's time for revenge... there is no fire, but hell flames. The sweat that revolved around him, his wet skin, his watery eyes... all of it burned him. Burned his body... Everything he has all over his body is evaporating energy. He only has one thing left to do.
And...
It's to prove that he ain't a loser like how they expect him to be, since he actually has an audience watching for his own country.
Eugene, with an empty expression on his face, stepped forward. He planned on stepping one step further, yet he ended up stepping a long distance in an instant, right in front of the shadow goblin.
Eugene was surprised by how he had changed in a second without realizing it. The berserk shadow goblin struck with a powerful punch right at Eugene's belly.
Eugene tried to dodge it... yet again, he slid millimeters to his left, avoiding the punch coming from his right. As he let the strongly gripped fist of the shadow pass by, he raised his hand to punch the goblin.
Just as he planned, he punched the goblin's face right on its nose. The shadow goblin, in a berserk-mode state, kept on screaming...
Cursing out loud as if he lost his son. Pathless saw the resilience of Eugene, not even wondering for a second that Eugene would kill him, and said, "I had fulfilled my very first episode. Well, what else is awaiting me now? We just have to hold out a little longer."
As Pathless flew in the sky, looking at his mission's successor, Eugene successfully cut off the shadow goblin's head.
Eugene walked toward the beach in silence. He reached the stone near the seashore and stepped on it with his left leg. While bending his back, he set his left hand on his left leg's knee.
He said, "There you go. Who do you think I am? Do it now—show me who you are. You are the last one left..."
The king smiled while standing up. The king didn't walk, he didn't flash—he just compressed the gap between Eugene and him with a flick of his finger.
Pathless knew that the king would be so strong—unimaginably strong. In a moment, he entered the body, switching with Eugene without even asking for it.
Eugene felt fear as soon as he left the body, wondering if the body was actually his body.
The king raised his hand up in the sky. The clouds began to jog like humans. Light and shadow blended, making a glowing art in the clouds. Each element eventually regenerated in the sky; each element separated ways and shined like rainbow stars.
The king said, "Any last words?"
Pathless said, with his usual expressionless face, "Why is this plot so repetitive? I mean, why always 'any last words'? I mean, can't you even say something new like 'any regrets you want to express'... uh... nah, forget what I said."
The king laughed at Pathless. As soon as he finished laughing out loud, he reached out to Pathless's face and made eye contact. His eyes were a nightmare—those who saw his thoughts through them would face the unknown all night. Something no one can survive... Pathless just had to hold until Eugene's aura forms.
The goblin king said, "What do you see in my eyes? Be honest." and stared even more aggressively.
Pathless wanted to take this chance and raised his hand. He gently pushed his hand on the goblin king's forehead and said, "Absorb."
The king laughed even more seriously and fell back as he did so. The seawater held him as he laughed. He said, "Waa... you got me—ha! Hahaa! You think that will actually work? Ha... how stupid is this human! Hahahaha!"
As the goblin king laughed, Pathless turned around and said to Eugene, "Let's go."
Eugene, with a panicking tone, said, "Hey, wh-what the hell did you do?"
Pathless stepped forward about twenty to thirty wide steps. He outstretched his right hand while preparing his fingers for a snap...
The goblin king said proudly, "You're making me wait. Come on—and thanks, kill the immortal."
Pathless said, "No, you are wrong. The inventory mechanism I'm using isn't about killing—it's about absorbing whatever can be absorbed. And this time... it just has to end up becoming... your memories, my glorious goblin king..."
