Veering into unknown space, James and I trekked into an impossible tropical zone. After a few brainstorming ideas James and I came to a conclusion of where we wanted to go. This place is both a nightmare and a dream. A place we spent several days planning as we both didn't want to just walk through it. I could probably just start draining all life within this place, but that's not why we are here.
I didn't teleport us around Antartica just to breeze through. No, we were here to explore the Savage Lands. We had one main objective 2 side objectives. Our main objective is to find vibranium, this place once discovered by others becomes the place all organizations conpete to get Vibranium, as on Earth it is the only place not claimed by anyone. S.H.I.E.L.D., A.I.M., Hydra, basically anyone who needs vibrainium that isn't associated with Wakanda and Atlantis. Our two side objectives, as per James's parents we are training our stealth, so explore without alerting any hostiles, easier said than done. Second, we want to see if we can befriend and take home any creature evolved from a megafauna or dinosaur. Who hasn't dreamt of having a pet sabertooth, direwolf, dinosaur, or the like? I say evolved from, because they are not the same species as the fossils, time didn't stop these guys.
Today I'm playing the support as I wanted to originally. I am grabbing bits of life force the whole way through. We are weaving our way through some dense jungle, and already I can tell I have the upper edge. Cipher's stealth skills are paying off, and I visited a few outdoors stores these past few days. Information on what a base human can do to preserve energy, and spotting potential hazards just flow through my head. I'm instinctively avoiding large piles of leaves that may or may not have divots, avoiding changing elevations, etc. James, well he's living his Naruto dream life. I'm keeping up thanks in part to my efficiency and giving myself the super solidier treatment as I still haven't heard from Peggy. I really wonder what she's up to. Maybe I should break into S.H.I.E.L.D. ? The backdoors I've made using my very own computer language thanks to Sage's and Cypher's abilities haven't been much use.
Honestly our trek is pretty boring I hope we avoided the more volatile parts of this place. If this place exists then theres a high probability theres a race a highly respect and dont want to be on the bad side of. That's also why I've been leaching off small amounts of life force. The Gardeners are beings made to tend to life.
We were making good time through the thick jungle in our unique way when we heard howling. The smart play would be to avoid it, but judging by the grin James flashed me we were definitely going to check in out.
We came across a man and smilodon being chased by a bunch of cavemen. Well technically the guy being chased was also a caveman, but these guys looked like they came from the Neandethal exhibit of the Smithsonian. Actually they might be, that would make them Ape-men. So those two must be Ka-zar and Zabu. Wait they look pretty young, shit I stopped James before he could make a move.
"Let's follow, but these guys need to be chased into the place of mists. These two are makor characters here, and they need to be chased in, just trust me. Let's follow from a distance and make sure nothing goes wrong."
James just nods, I was the more knowledgable one. The only reason he knows about this place is because of the old Xmen cartoon that I sent him copies of in our past life. We hid ourselves, but that means did the smilodon genocide happen already?
Just like in the comics the two origin stories are intact. Our stealth skills are working, and we havent been detected. We tacitly agree to keep following wondering what these guys are up to. We hear more commotion, it seems the Ape-men found something.
A family of smilodons, they've cornered them. Okay so maybe these Ape-men have t hunted them to extinction as of yet (Zabu wouldnbe the last of his kind). The timeline really is a mess, but it seems to work to our advantage.
"Go we have to rescure them, they're overhunting them there may only be a few smilodons left."
I hang back as agreed beforehand and watch as James dismantles the group. Dashing between foes and just cutting them apart, no magic, just his speed and strength from his cultivation and swordsmanship. James was dashing to one opponent and slashing them aiming for their vitals, most had cits along their necks. No beheading, just a dash infront of them and a quick slash, shallow so it doesn't get caught, but deep enough to kill. It's very impressive I could barely follow him with my eyes.
The only reason I can tell what happened was from my spacial awareness thanks to the Vanisher splice. It wasn't like Daredevil's sonar like perception. It was more of sensing where everything is and being hyperaware of this fast moving object in the area and percieving the exact area it occupies. It was kinda surreal knowing where James was but not seeing it completely with my eyes.
The results spoken for themselves, barely 10 seconds in and the huning party of 12 was down. Most were still in the process of dying, which made me smile as I knew it was intentional letting me have even more life forced even if many were fading fast. We proceeded to hunt the hunters, it seems this is the big push that drlve these furnalls into near extinction.
James repeatededly demonstrated his deadly skills. 15 groups of hunters all left crippled and dying for me to finish off. I imagine this is probably what the Jedi and Sith look like when they fight, super speed rushing slaughtering any who aren't force sensitive. A few of the groups were actually hunting some dinos instead, but none of them seemed very receptive of us. We probably look similiar and they just spent time running of attack the Ape-men.
We eventually hit a mountain range, and I knew this was the Eternity Mountains. We decided to stop hunting the Ape-men as we would basically eradicate them if so, so we looked around the area. We were looking for crevices or caves that would help us get into the mountains and see if there are any caches of vibranium.
Hours later we hit the motherlode, a tight crevice that James used his sword skills to wide. As he did we could see a vein of vibranium.
