Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 The Ring and the Wand

Returning to his room, Dr. Hawking took a shower, then pulled out his computer and began to watch the news.

This was one of the things he inevitably did every day.

Do not underestimate these news reports that ordinary people can see; many reporters in this World are truly fearless for a scoop, daring to rush into any dangerous situation.

Sometimes, when a major event occurs, the news might break before government agencies even react.

Regularly watching these news reports also helped him understand the situation outside the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, allowing him to spot the early signs of major events.

"Stark Industries CEO Tony Stark, in the middle of a new product launch celebration last night, left with three Hollywood actresses in a car."

As usual, the headlines were mostly dominated by the playboy Tony Stark.

"Too bad it's a few years too early, otherwise I could have made a killing when Iron Man was kidnapped."

Shaking his head regretfully, he clicked the mouse to the next page.

During the time Tony Stark was kidnapped, Stark Industries' stock plummeted. After his return, his announcement to close the weapon production line further sent the stock to its lowest point.

If he had seized the opportunity to buy a large number of shares then, he would have made a fortune when Tony Stark became Iron Man and the stock price surged.

Unfortunately, it was only 2003, and there were still six or seven years until the playboy Tony Stark was kidnapped. He couldn't wait that long.

However, he considered whether he could make contact earlier. Technology products like the Gravity Chamber should be an area Tony Stark is good at.

"Exploring Aerospace or snatching a large contract from Osborn Industries, will Osborn Industries never recover?"

The headline on the second page immediately caught Dr. Hawking's attention.

Osborn Industries, he seemed to have some impression of it. Was it the Green Goblin's company?

He thought back carefully. In the Spider-Man movie, there seemed to be a villain named Green Goblin, and his company seemed to be called Osborn Industries.

However, for now, he hadn't found any news reports about Spider-Man.

This was Universe 838, not the main Universe he was familiar with, so currently he couldn't figure out which Spider-Man it would be.

It was important to know that while every Universe had a Spider-Man, not every Spider-Man in every Universe was the same.

There was the Tobey Maguire version of Spider-Man who could shoot his own webs, as well as the Amazing Spider-Man, the Little Spider from the main Universe, Gwen Stacy Spider-Woman, the Black Spider-Man, Spider-Ham, Spider-UK, EVA Spider-Man, and so on.

The time points and even the cities where different Spider-Men originated were not necessarily the same.

If it were the Little Spider from the main World, he would probably only be two or three years old now.

"Green Goblin also seems to be a formidable scientist; his glider is well-made. I could consider reaching out to him as well."

Osborn Industries primarily focused on genetic research and military weapons. Although not as prominent as Stark Industries, it was still one of the top military industrial enterprises.

Continuing to scroll through the news, he soon found another valuable piece of information.

"Dr. Reed Richards, a leader in multiple fields including engineering, mathematics, and physics, is on the verge of bankruptcy. Can he pull through?"

"Dr. Reed Richards, isn't he Mister Fantastic?"

Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four, possessing rubber-like abilities, was hailed as the smartest man on Earth, but it seemed he hadn't been mutated by cosmic radiation yet.

At least, he hadn't heard any stories about the Fantastic Four in the past two years.

"I should make it a priority to contact him when I have time."

After reading all the news and finding nothing else of value, Dr. Hawking closed his computer and picked up an ebony ring from the nearby table, placing it on his right index finger.

Then he pointed at his head:

"Wind Swirl!"

A small whirlwind immediately appeared above his head, quickly drying his hair.

Indeed, the ebony ring was not an ordinary ornament, but rather something akin to a wand.

After Beast returned to the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Dr. Hawking would hand over his wand to Beast for research every day after loading the Harry template.

After a full month, Beast was finally able to use his newly developed machine to add wand-like properties to corresponding items, helping Dr. Hawking stably cast magic.

It was practically scientific enchantment.

Besides enchanting the Adamantium staff, Dr. Hawking also added an ebony ring.

The Adamantium staff was only used in battle and was not convenient to carry around normally, whereas the ring could be worn on his hand, assisting him in casting magic at any time.

As for why he chose ebony instead of hard metal, it was mainly to guard against Magneto.

Even though his relationship with Magneto seemed good now, and Magneto occasionally visited the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, he knew that Magneto wouldn't truly stop causing trouble.

In reality, he was well aware that Magneto was currently accumulating strength, constantly seeking out potential Mutants to join his Brotherhood of Mutants. Just like Pyro from the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, he was swayed by Magneto to join the Brotherhood.

Once Magneto believed he had an opportunity to wipe out humanity, he would definitely not show mercy.

He could even kill Professor X when necessary, let alone Dr. Hawking.

Therefore, after that, even if he didn't load the Harry template and didn't have a wand for casting, with the magic staff and magic ring, he could still successfully cast magic.

In the future, with more effort and practice, he would no longer need these when he could cast wandless and non-verbal magic.

"It's almost time to eat."

After drying his hair and checking the time, Dr. Hawking put on his jacket and pushed open the door, walking towards the cafeteria.

Although the students hadn't finished class yet, Mr. Yogg in the cafeteria had probably already prepared enough dinner for him at this time.

To avoid Mr. Yogg being overwhelmed, and also to avoid unnecessary trouble from eating with everyone.

His breakfast was always before the students woke up, and his lunch and dinner were precisely timed during the students' last class.

By the time everyone came to the cafeteria to eat, he had already finished and left.

Because of this, he had a nickname among the Mutant students at the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters: "Mysterious Dr. Hawking."

Even though they were in the same Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, they found it difficult to encounter Dr. Hawking. They could only vaguely see Dr. Hawking exercising outside through the windows during class.

It was this sense of mystery that made him even more attractive in the eyes of the students.

It wasn't that Dr. Hawking was unsociable; it was just his psychological age. Asking him to chat and become friends with eleven or twelve-year-olds was truly a bit difficult for him.

You see, in his free time, he got along very well with teachers like Wolverine and Cyclops, occasionally even borrowing Cyclops's cool modified motorcycle to ride around outside.

And indeed, to assimilate the power brought by the Saiyan and Wizard Bloodline as much as possible, he truly had no time.
