"Stop the Imperio!"
Arriving at the school gate, Hawking pulled out the Harley motorcycle that Cyclops had specially modified for him from his pocket, threw it to the ground, and removed the shrinking spell on it. He then mounted it and sped towards the city.
Although Professor X hadn't given Hawking much money at the moment, he would provide anything he needed.
Hawking said it was inconvenient to always borrow Cyclops's motorcycle, so Professor X immediately had a new one delivered and asked Cyclops to modify it.
If Hawking asked for money, Professor X would give it to him immediately, but if it was a large amount, he would need to report its purpose.
Because in Professor X's eyes, Hawking was still a child, and he was afraid that if Hawking received too much money, he would lose himself in the city and go astray.
He sped all the way and soon arrived in Queens.
However, the place he arrived at was not Osborn Industries Tower, but Queens Hospital.
He planned to first verify whether Peter's classmate Jessica was Jessica Jones, and then go to Osborn Industries to talk to Green Goblin.
"Hi, beautiful, which ward is Jessica Campbell in?"
Hawking pulled out a coin, flipped it into a rose, and handed it with a smile to the young Nurse at the information desk.
The busy young Nurse impatiently looked up, but when she saw Hawking's handsome face and the rose in his hand, her attitude immediately did a 180-degree turn.
"Handsome young man, let me check for you."
Taking the rose, the young Nurse quickly blinked and gave Jessica's ward number.
Not everything needs to be solved with the Imperio; looks, physique, money, humor, and romance can sometimes be a kind of Imperius magic if used well.
Waving goodbye to the young Nurse, Hawking followed the ward number to Jessica's room, but he didn't see the dark-haired girl inside.
"How pitiful. I heard her parents and brother all died in this car accident. Only she survived."
"Yes, she has no relatives left in her family. She can only be adopted now."
"Where did Jessica go?"
"Doctor Stephen, she must have gone to the rooftop again. Since she woke up these past few days, she goes to the rooftop every day to clear her head."
"When she comes back, tell her not to run around. I still need to check on her recovery later."
Although Hawking didn't find Jessica in the ward, he learned the general situation from the conversations of nearby patients and the Doctor.
So he quickly went to the hospital's rooftop.
"This child, she's not thinking of jumping, is she?"
As soon as he arrived on the rooftop, he saw Jessica standing on the edge, closing her eyes, and stepping out.
Indeed, he hadn't guessed wrong; Jessica was indeed planning to end her life by jumping.
Half a month ago, on a weekend, their family happily went to Disney, but halfway there, she and her brother started arguing about which ride to go on next, causing their father to be distracted and have a car accident.
When she woke up, she learned that her parents and brother had all died in the car accident, and only she miraculously survived.
At this point, she had blamed the deaths of her parents and brother entirely on herself. If she hadn't argued with her brother in the car and had given in to him, such a result wouldn't have occurred.
Without her parents and brother, without family, coupled with intense guilt, she decided to end her life.
It was just that she had a fear of heights, and every time she intended to jump, she would be scared back.
But today, she finally made up her mind to jump, so she closed her eyes, not looking down, and stepped off the rooftop.
"Why don't I feel like I'm falling?"
After stepping off the rooftop, she expected to fall and die, but she felt as if she was staying in place and not falling.
"Did I miscalculate and miss a step?"
Quietly opening her eyes, Jessica slowly looked down.
But the next second, her eyes showed an incredible expression.
"Unbelievable!"
Because she found that she was indeed in a state of having both feet in the air, but she wasn't falling normally. Instead, she was floating in the air, completely defying the laws of physics.
"Oh, I'm so dizzy!"
After she realized what was happening, the dizziness caused by her fear of heights immediately swept over her, and her ability to float in the air was affected by her fear and immediately disappeared, causing her to instantly plummet downwards.
"Ah, ah. Help me!"
The instinct for life made her involuntarily cry out for help.
Fortunately, just then, a strong hand suddenly appeared, grabbing her hospital gown and pulling her back onto the rooftop.
"Long time no see, Miss Jessica!"
Hawking set Jessica down, bent over, and waved to her with a smile.
At this moment, he had already confirmed that this Jessica Campbell should be the Jessica Jones he remembered; the different name might just be a later change.
He had just witnessed Jessica's flying ability, although it seemed to have only just awakened.
"L-Long time no see, thank you for saving me."
Jessica, whose legs were a bit weak, tried to calm her racing heart. She also recognized the boy who saved her as someone she had met before and quickly thanked Hawking.
Hawking then extended a hand to her:
"It seems you're not in a good mood. How about we go eat something together? My treat!"
Jessica looked at Hawking, then at the outside of the rooftop, and finally grabbed Hawking's hand and stood up.
"Okay."
After what she had just experienced, she no longer wanted to die today. She felt she should try a different method of death; jumping from a building was too terrifying for someone with a fear of heights like her.
"You can't leave the hospital in those clothes."
He pointed a hand at Jessica, and her hospital gown immediately transformed into a jacket and jeans.
This magical scene left Jessica stunned on the spot.
"No need to be surprised, just a little special ability, just like you could float in the air just now."
Waving at Jessica to signal her to follow, Hawking turned and walked towards the rooftop stairwell.
After a few seconds of stunned, Jessica immediately jogged to catch up, and as she entered the stairwell, she casually pulled the iron door to the rooftop shut.
"Bang!"
With a loud thud, the entire iron door, propelled by immense force, flew directly towards Hawking in front.
Hawking, reacting quickly, turned and caught the flying iron door in his hand.
"Holy sh*t!"
Jessica looked at her hand in disbelief, then at Hawking, and couldn't help but blurt out a curse.
Hawking, meanwhile, put the iron door aside and joked:
"It seems you'll have to be careful controlling your strength lately, otherwise, if an ordinary person were hit like that just now, they'd be dead."
"Who exactly are you? And what's wrong with me?"
Jessica looked at the five clear finger marks Hawking had left on the iron door, which was now leaning against the wall in the stairwell, and finally couldn't help but ask.
Hawking replied:
"I think it's better if we sit down, eat something, and talk slowly."
"I want a burger."
"No problem."
