The Headmasters Office was silent for a moment.
Lucien's answer still made Dumbledore nod gently.
"Lucien, you are a good child who loves to learn."
"By the way, have you encountered any learning problems recently?"
Lucien thought for a moment. What he had mainly been studying recently, well, was Transfiguration, specifically biological fusion Transfiguration.
He had already mastered simple biological feature fusion, but for fusion Transfiguration from bones and flesh to organs and limbs, the more basic and subtle the Transfiguration, the harder it was. He was indeed still lacking in this area.
He had originally planned to ask Professor McGonagall for guidance, but Dumbledore had already asked.
Moreover, Dumbledore was also a famous Transfiguration Master of his time, having served as Hogwarts' Transfiguration Professor in his early years.
"Principal, my recent studies in Transfiguration, regarding biological Transfiguration…"
Dumbledore listened to Lucien's question, at first thinking he was stuck on the step of transforming inanimate objects into living ones.
He thought that although this child had extreme talent in Transfiguration, even being evaluated by the Sorting Hat as 'unprecedented in his lifetime, the greatest in a thousand years'.
But after all, he only officially came into contact with magic after arriving at Hogwarts, and his previous accumulation was too little, so it was normal for him to be stumped by a certain knowledge point.
"Principal, I have already mastered the Transfiguration from inanimate to living, but…"
With that, Lucien took out a small hoe from his pocket and pointed his wand at it.
The small hoe immediately twisted and transformed into a green turtle.
Dumbledore was about to praise Lucien for the naturalness and smoothness of this move.
But he saw Lucien lightly tap his wand again, and the turtle instantly transformed into a small white rabbit.
This time, Dumbledore was genuinely surprised.
Transfiguration Overlay?
This was not a simple Transfiguration technique!
Performing multiple Transfigurations on the same object, the difficulty of each Transfiguration increased exponentially!
Just as Dumbledore thought Lucien wanted to ask how to stack the number of Transfigurations, Lucien cast another Transfiguration on the rabbit.
However, this was not the end. It wasn't until Lucien had stacked a full nine Transfigurations that he paused slightly.
Immediately, Lucien performed the last Transfiguration, but this time, unlike the previous ones, the Transfiguration appeared slower and more difficult.
A peculiar "creature" mixed with several biological features appeared on Dumbledore's desk.
Seeing this creature, Dumbledore couldn't help but adjust his half-moon spectacles, and after a long while, he spoke:
"You, this Transfiguration stacking, did you learn it from Professor McGonagall?"
But Lucien shook his head,
"No, I read about it in a book, practiced a few times, and learned it."
"You learned this from a book again?"
Lucien looked at Dumbledore with some confusion,
"Yes, Principal, I don't think I learned it wrong, it feels quite smooth. By the way, why did you say 'again'?"
"This…"
Dumbledore added another sugar cube to his teacup,
"It's like this, I discussed it with your Dean, Professor Flitwick, earlier."
"He said that you had already mastered some very skilled magic when you first enrolled, and you come from a Muggle family, so we guessed that you learned magic by self-study from books."
As Dumbledore said this, Lucien understood.
So that's how it was. No wonder when he chatted with Professor Flitwick once before, and he asked how he learned those magic spells, the Professor was so bewildered after he said he learned them by self-study from books.
Alas, he forgot to give himself a small cake that time.
Professor Flitwick's refreshments were the most delicious, unlike here with Dumbledore.
Lucien glanced at the several plates of sweets on the table that had changed patterns, but their common feature was that they were still sweet.
"Hehe, Lucien, you are indeed a very talented child, and so eager to learn."
"Please continue, what do you want to ask about Transfiguration?"
Lucien nodded, pointing at the strange creature on the table that shouldn't exist in the world.
"Principal, regarding the fusion of different biological features…"
As Lucien spoke, he continued to Transfigure the creature on the table with his wand.
At first, Dumbledore's expression was still normal, but as Lucien gradually spoke about more detailed internal biological changes, a hint of solemnity appeared in Dumbledore's bright blue eyes.
In the field of Transfiguration, through multiple Transfiguration superpositions, selectively retaining different characteristics and fusing them together.
This is a higher-level application technique.
But it is actually not practical, usually just a show of skill.
Because a Wizard with this ability can completely Transfigure more objects simultaneously, playing more tricks in actual combat.
Simply fusing creatures, on one hand, is slow to Transfigure, and on the other hand, it is not stable enough.
It's the same old saying, with this level of control, one could perform other Transfigurations to respond to the situation more flexibly.
"Lucien, your question is very good. Fusing creatures…"
Dumbledore explained the limitations and feasibility of this matter to Lucien.
And Lucien had indeed considered this long ago.
Firstly, he had the assistance of the chimera handbook, which recorded many related experiments and conjectures.
Wanting to attempt a deeper and more thorough biological fusion, Lucien felt that he wasn't completely in the dark, not starting from scratch.
He was standing on the shoulders of Giants, moving forward.
Yes, the author of the chimera handbook, that ancient Wizard, though he seemed mad, his talent and depth of research were beyond reproach.
His research had already paved a very wide path for him.
And he didn't know if it was because of his SSS-level Transfiguration talent, but Lucien had an intuition about deeper and more thorough biological fusion:
It was feasible.
The new creatures created might not possess strange magic abilities like true magic creatures, but they would certainly far exceed the scope of ordinary creatures.
This was a deep attempt, a true exploration of Transfiguration, a process he must go through if he wanted to perfectly master Transfiguration.
If he didn't even dare to try when predecessors had pointed out the direction, then how could he innovate and discover new directions for Transfiguration?
"Thank you, Principal. I understand what you said, and I also have some…"
Lucien told Dumbledore some of his experimental results and ideas from this period, while also citing some techniques from the chimera handbook to make his ideas seem more feasible.
Dumbledore remained patient, listening to Lucien's narration, occasionally asking questions or offering some advice.
And the more he talked with Lucien, the more Dumbledore was amazed.
This child not only had ample talent but, more importantly, was willing to put in concrete effort.
But what truly moved Dumbledore was Lucien's passion and determination for the exploration of knowledge.
Later in their conversation, Dumbledore was no longer just offering verbal guidance.
After discussing with Lucien, he took out the unique Elder Wand and began to put those ideas into practice.
This afternoon tea lasted particularly long; the old and the young conducted many Transfiguration experiments in the Headmasters Office.
And Dumbledore truly witnessed Lucien's terrifying learning speed this time.
As time passed, Dumbledore couldn't help but recall what the Sorting Hat had told him:
"...Cultivate Lucien well, Hogwarts will be great again..."
