Chapter 28 - Where Do You Go To Now?

"Most of the shit that has evidence worth handing up to Mr Leeash is actually still on Fierfam. Tsk."

Magnus didn't give enough context for what he'd asked, but his face told many layers of annoyance.

Only Stanley and Aurora looked around at the others as if what Magnus said was perplexing. The two most recent people to come. Stanley's eyes darted around from his seat as he leaned out of the side of it, facing towards Magnus.

{So, um. Guiding Whisper. It's… some anomaly. Man, I rarely even get to see anomalies get used in everyday life. I can't… like get used to this lifestyle just yet. I can't think of the anomalies casually. I am right now, but I'm not actually "Thinking" about it. Thinking deeply about something that scientists couldn't previously explain or still can't explain is pretty common in these people's lives. It's so hard to even get information about it in the general public. What the fuck is this lifestyle? I am a little bit… unused to this new stuff. I really did have a whole fascination with anomalies as a kid, but now I casually get to hear that a black man with dreads near me has one inside his leg like it's a Syntheri human tissue booster. Magnus now. Properly. Kinda curious.}

Tallurre: "Get on with it." He exclaimed.

Magnus scratched the back of his neck casually while still looking professionally in thought

A few seconds later, he got his answer.

"So I asked the Guiding Whisper, 'Is this the right area to visit?' and it came out with something along the lines of, 'The starting point of one group may be another's.' I deduced it in a few seconds; it's either talking about what Rebell visited or Dermiya. More likely Dermiya, since Rebell, in its file, had multiple starting points. Hm." He gave his answer, yet his tone suggested that a few details were still unclear.

Jordan then called out.

"Surely you asked it multiple times a millisecond, right?" He looked up from his phone and gently put it in his right pocket while he sat in his chair.

Magnus: "Well, yeah, I can do that, but what's the point of getting so many answers for things I gotta spend, at bare minimum, ten seconds to figure out?" he turned his head slightly to the left and spoke to him, debunking his question.

Jordan: "Uh-huh, I know you yelled at me about this when we were at Sol-42, but that's an idiot decision. Ask it multiple questions a millisecond, like I just said, since apparently it's connected to your brain, and figure out an answer based on the similarities of each answer." He interjected back at Magnus, trying to prove his point again. His tone rose a slight bit at the end.

{He's a lot smarter than I thought he would be. I swear I'm not a full racist, but I thought he would've grown up in a rural place and gang-banged at the age of thirteen while still learning English. Good on him.}

Magnus put his right index finger on his eyebrow while scratching it.

"Renner. Good point. I want to say that here, but I can't really do that if the answer is meant to be a riddle. Riddles aren't meant to have some easy recurring pattern. Even if I ask the same question over and over again, the Guiding Whisper will give it to me in a way that requires me to THINK over it. Not estimate. And it's not just easy to solve. You know this."

He replied and turned back to the audience he'd been facing at first. He moved to the top of the shuttle area, with the front seats being the closest to him and the back being furthest.

A few people made quiet noises, but Magnus was the only one projecting his voice properly.

Magnus: "Yeah. So. I originally was going to talk about the place we were going to, Deena-Septocon. Weird name, I suppose." He mumbled that last comment out like it was a little detail that slipped out.

"Mm hmm."

"Yeah."

"…"

Magnus: "I did ask repeated questions to my Whisper, but it did take me some time to decode some of the answers. "Is Tobias Leeash telling the truth?" "Will any casualties happen if we take this path?" "Where is Sierra Leeash Graham?" Just a few that I remembered. But I think Mr Leeash is more deceptive than meets the common eye. There's a plan I'm sure he wants us to follow, but would it matter if we take a different route yet get the same ending? If he is truly a sorrowful individual stressed about his wife, he'll be fine with us starting out exploring Fierfam, under the amazing disguise of casualness and becoming civilians again." He stated. His hands again began to be used as a way to communicate more easily and point things out. His face moved and spoke vibrantly compared to how he was earlier while chatting to the rest outside.

"Can you understand the terms of events?" He shared with the rest of the group in a louder voice. His eyebrows slanted lower as he looked into the eyes of all in front. The people he selected.

Tallurre: "Yes."

Daryl: "YEP."

Stanley: "Yeah."

Sheng-Ri: "Yep."

Jordan: "Mm."

Tono: "Yes."

Aurora: "YEAH."

Chidieberre: "Oh, yep."

Johnny: "Easy done."

Lori: "Simple."

Oswald: "Yes, Boss."

Oblivion: "…"

In a matter of ten seconds, they all gave a response, not at the same time.

Magnus looked around. On the left side, top to bottom, was Oblivion, who was faintly peeking out of the small room of a seat; Jordan, who had his legs crossed at the feet, while poking out most of his body sideways to face Magnus.

Sheng-Ri, who wasn't visible to Magnus except for her head, as she was looking at him from the top of her seat wall with a small, faint glance; Tono, who was facing similarly to Jordan but with his legs spread out more and his elbows resting on his thighs.

Johnny, who had taken off his hat a bit ago and was raising his chin upwards, trying to see Magnus while he put on his seat heaters and focused, with his hands behind his back; Lori, who was trying to do the same, but Johnny's hair and long head were blocking the view, making her move side to side in small motions.

Oswald, who was sitting in one of the closer seats to the back bathrooms and standard medical station that comes with emergency weapons, was trying his best to focus on the man who was a bit further away to hear than most in the quiet room, with an engine noise in the back similar to brown noise.

On the right side, Daryl was leaning towards Magnus, who was two steps from being bashed by Daryl if he wanted to, and was listening hard while scratching a bit of acne around his nose; Stanley was casually leaning on the chair, while still keeping a good look at him.

Tallurre was ruffling up his hair now and then, finding a perfect spot for a tidy fringe while maintaining his focus to remember most of the details word for word. As a lawyer should. Aurora was moving her head slowly up and around Tallurre's head, trying to get a good look at Magnus without poking herself out the seat door or standing up. It later turned into a fun small thing for her to repeatedly do.

Chidieberre, who'd prefer to be at the front rather than stuck at the back, stood up and leaned her arms against Aurora's back wall without her knowing, keeping a little bit of subtlety to not stand out. A faint smile was curving up.

Magnus: "Now, what EXACTLY are we going to be doing on Fierfam-D? I suspect that… hmm. Yeah. Yeah, Ok." He was in speaker form again when He realised something. Mumbling and grumbling out a few responses like he was talking with someone.

"Now, remember that I mentioned a question I gave to the whisper earlier? Where is Sierra? It just responded with "Open your eyes. And think about the day she "allegedly got kidnapped." It involved one of many Fierfam-D shopping centres, the one specifically in a place called West Brook. I don't think she was there. At all, actually. So. My idea. Everyone else except me will go to Fierfam-D and look for details, casually. I mean it. Take your time. As long as you can find someone who can give at least a relatively easy-to-understand perspective on the Sierra case, in a week, I'll be satisfied. This might be one of the easier cases that we banded together on, haha. For you, at least." He said.

Tallurre: "Ok, so this means you want to stay here in Leeash? Collecting pieces and details?" He commented back to Magnus, who turned his head while his thoughts of unique plans were slowly morphing into visible emotions that changed every second.

"Oh yes. Daryl and Tallurre, go ahead with the plans that we originally had for Deena and make way for the changes we talked about. Now, Daryl, you're driving. Drop me off once you reach a reasonable distance away from anything grassy. Preferably water. Heh." He then pointed at Daryl, ushering him to come to him, as he started walking backwards out to the corridor to the closed-off entrance and cockpit.

Daryl: "COMING, SIR!" He got up and followed him while Magnus charismatically waved gently at everyone while still walking backwards. Daryl jogged on the spot if he accidentally came too close into Magnus's personal space boundary.

The group broke into chatter once they were fully in the tunnel.

Stanley: "Fwuh. Hmm."

{Ok ok ok ok. My heart rate's getting faster. shit man. I really am nervous about this thing. It better be a casual first-time thing.}
