Several others nodded in agreement.Amber listened to the barrage of criticism without a change in expression. Then she stood .Picking up the marker, she walked to the board and spoke calmly.
"If we take on this deal, the delivery timeline they've set is three months," she began. "Within that time, we must prepare and deliver all the goods."
She drew a quick timeline on the board."First, the required raw materials are sourced overseas. Transportation alone takes two and a half months."
Murmurs rippled through the room.
"Second, once the materials arrive, our current production capacity allows us to complete only one-quarter of the order within the remaining time."
She turned back to face them."Even if we expand production capacity immediately, we still won't meet the deadline. And even if we somehow manage to deliver on time, the cost of expanding capacity would consume all the profit."
She paused.
"Third, that expanded capacity would be useless after the contract ends. It would only increase our long-term fixed costs."
Silence fell over the meeting room.No one spoke.
Because behind the glittering promise of a 'big deal', This was, in truth, a loss-making project and everyone in the room was convinced.
Those who had criticized Amber moments ago were now rendered speechless.
Some looked at her with undisguised awe, silently relieved that the company still had someone with such a sharp and level-headed mind. Even her uncle was left without words.
Lin Yao opened her mouth to refute , but her father quickly pulled her back, shaking his head and signaling her to remain silent.
Amber took in everyone's expressions before speaking again, her voice calm yet cutting.
"You all dared to discuss such a major deal without informing me—your superior. Have you lost your sense of judgment?"
She paused, letting the words sink in.
"If this contract had gone through under those terms, have you even imagined the consequences? The losses would have crushed us. Our share price would have plummeted. A so-called 'year's worth of profit'? This single project could have wiped out years of earnings."
Her gaze sharpened.
"Without proper calculation, who prepared this proposal?"
Every eye in the room slowly shifted toward Lin Zixuan and Lin Yao.
Lin Yao immediately stood, her eyes reddening as she spoke pitifully,
"Sister, you don't have to be so harsh on Father. This was my mistake. Please don't blame him…"
She choked back a sob.
Lin Zixuan frowned and said coldly, "Amber, don't bully your sister. She only meant well. You should be thanking me who brought this deal , although this deal had flaws, we intercepted it early. It's not like we actually suffered a loss, and if they agreed to our terms, it would be beneficial for us".
Amber raised an eyebrow.
"Meant well?" she repeated lightly. "If she truly meant well, she would have calculated everything in advance."
Her tone turned icy.
"If I hadn't been here today, you would have proceeded with this contract and when it failed, you would have shifted all the blame onto me. Isn't that what you planned?"
The room went still.
"Just for the sake of power," Amber continued, "you would have claimed the bonuses and rewards for yourselves, while forcing the board and shareholders to bear the losses."
No one spoke.
Watching the scene unfold, the other board members exchanged looks of agreement. Amber was right. Entrusting such a crucial deal to people this incompetent was reckless.
At best, Lin Zixuan and his daughter lacked the ability to lead. At worst, they would sacrifice the entire company and push the responsibility onto Amber and everyone in that room would have paid the price.
.
"As per company regulations," Amber said evenly, "the mistake Lin Yao committed has sufficient grounds for termination."
The directors exchanged glances , then nodded one after another.
Indeed, such a level of incompetence was nothing but a waste of the company's resources. Even though no direct financial loss had occurred, the Lin Corporation's image had already been damaged in front of foreign partners.
Lin Zixuan's expression twisted with anger, but he understood there was no way out. After a moment of hesitation, he nodded as well.
Lin Yao's complexion turned deathly pale.
"Sister, please, give me another chance," she begged, her voice trembling. "I admit I'm not as capable as you, but people learn from their mistakes. I'm still a fresh graduate. Please show some mercy…"
Amber clicked her tongue lightly.
"Those in favor of terminating Miss Lin Yao's employment," she said coolly, "please raise your hands."
Hands rose around the table—one after another.
The majority was clear.
Only a few directors, swayed by Lin Yao's pitiful act, kept their hands lowered.Amber glanced around the room once more before announcing calmly, "The majority has approved. Effective immediately, Miss Lin Yao is fired from Lin Corporation, meeting dismissed"
After Amber left the conference room, the directors followed one after another. Soon, only Lin Zixuan and his daughter remained behind.
Lin Yao was sobbing uncontrollably.
"Enough!" Lin Zixuan snapped, irritation etched across his face. "Shut up!"
His patience had completely worn thin.
Lin Yao clenched her fists, lowering her head as hatred churned in her chest. She cursed Amber viciously in her heart. At the same moment, Amber sneezed twice. She scoffed softly. "Curse all you want, Lin Yao. My revenge has only just begun."
