Chapter 17 - Dragon’s Help! Haki Infusion

"Armament Haki?"

Kuina and Zoro were both stunned. Clearly unfamiliar with the terms Dragon used, they turned simultaneously to look at Dunn.

Ivankov's large eyes stared at Dunn with intensity. He knew Koshiro possessed Haki, but training it required a solid foundation, and frequent use was a heavy burden on the body. Had this kid already reached the point of awakening Haki in Koshiro's eyes?

Dunn, meanwhile, kept his eyes on Dragon—the man with three blood-red question marks over his head—and nodded.

"I see!" Dragon said, sitting down cross-legged on the spot. "Haki training isn't actually that difficult. In the Calm Belt of the New World, there is an island called Amazon Lily. Most people there have mastered impressive Haki."

"Amazon Lily," Dunn said with a nod.

"You even know about that? It seems you are well-informed," Dragon said with a smile.

"Before coming to Shimotsuki Village, I saw a newspaper about the Empress of the Amazon Lily Kingdom becoming one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea," Dunn explained.

"If it's just a matter of guiding out Armament Haki, it's not too hard," Dragon said. He suddenly reached out toward Dunn. His palm was instantly shrouded in a dark, heavy Armament Haki.

Dunn was startled. With his Observation Haki active, he instinctively raised his hand to block, but his wrist was firmly caught by Dragon. Automatically, Dunn tried to "Elementalize," but the spot where he was held was locked down—he couldn't turn to fire.

Dragon paused, a smile spreading across his face. He began to let his own Armament Haki flow, coiling it around Dunn's wrist.

In the next instant, Dunn felt a surge of energy within his own body pushing back against the invading Haki. Before he could fully probe this internal energy, Dragon released his grip.

"That is your own Armament Haki. Most people can't use this 'forced' method to awaken it," Dragon said, his eyes holding a deeper meaning as he looked at Dunn.

An ability user. A Logia type, at that.

Dunn didn't speak. Under the gaze of the four onlookers, he remained silent for a long moment before lifting his arm. A faint coating of Armament Haki flickered into existence.

Zoro and Kuina couldn't perceive it, but Dragon and Ivankov sensed it immediately.

That works too? Dunn was amazed to see "Armament Haki" finally appear on his data panel.

"You still need to train it. To use this method to help others, your own mastery must be much deeper," Dragon noted honestly.

Dunn didn't need him to say it; he already understood. He hadn't realized Armament Haki could be "infused" into others like that, nor did he expect the latent energy in his own body to react so violently to an outside force.

"Thank you!" Dunn said. Regardless of motives, Dragon had helped him, and a thank you was in order.

"No need for thanks. Consider it my repayment," Dragon replied. Because of Dunn's funds, Koshiro had gathered much more food than usual, which was a huge help to the Revolutionary Army.

With that, Dragon stood up, waved a hand, and led Ivankov back toward the dojo.

Dunn and the two children watched them go.

"Dunn, what were you guys talking about just now?" Kuina asked, her voice full of confusion.

"Haki. A power that resides within everyone. If you want to become a master or even Great Swordsmen in the future, it's something you must master. Every powerhouse on the sea has deep Haki training," Dunn explained.

Haki required a foundation and put a strain on the body; it was natural that Koshiro hadn't mentioned it to them yet. As for Zoro, if he hadn't gotten lost and failed to find his way back to the village in the original timeline, Koshiro likely would have taught it to him eventually.

Dunn glanced at Kuina before standing up. "It's too early for you two. When the time is right, the Master will teach you."

He left immediately.

"It's a power all strong people have... I have to master it," Zoro said, his face full of longing.

Kuina nodded silently. So, to be strong, a good body is only one condition, huh?Haki? Kuina decided she would go ask her father about it.

Elsewhere, Dragon and Ivankov returned to see Koshiro.

"Well?" Koshiro asked with a smile.

"An impressive young man," Dragon nodded.

"Then..." Koshiro looked at Dragon, only to see him shake his head.

"He has no intention of heading out to sea right now."

Koshiro nodded in understanding.

"But he is definitely an ability user. Likely a Logia," Dragon added.

Ivankov, who was listening, almost jumped. "That kid is a Logia user?!" He was floored. Devil Fruits weren't common, and Logias were the rarest of the rare. The three Admirals were famous precisely because of their terrifying Logia powers.

"Highly likely," Dragon said.

"Leader, should we recruit him into the Revolutionary Army?" Ivankov asked, clearly tempted. A Logia user, as long as they didn't slack off, was a guaranteed top-tier combatant.

"Hard. That young man's eyes aren't right. It's just as Koshiro said," Dragon shook his head. "I don't know why he looks at everyone that way.

He tries to hide it, but that innate sense of superiority is always there." Dragon sighed, feeling a bit disappointed.

"There's still a chance. He's still young, after all," Koshiro laughed, changing the subject.

After returning to his room, Dunn summoned his Armament Haki and maintained it. The quality was nowhere near Koshiro's or Dragon's, but Dunn was fascinated by this new power. He even tried to coat his sword, En, but failed.

He decided that, besides asking Koshiro for guidance later, he would keep his Haki active as much as possible. Constant use was the only way to master its applications.

Naturally, his HP began to drop as he used it, though not very quickly. Unlike Observation, Armament was a massive drain on physical stamina.

The next day, before dawn, Dunn—who hadn't slept a wink—left the dojo. When the sun finally rose, he returned soaked to the bone, carrying a sea fish several meters long on his shoulder.
