Lyssa found me two hours into the six-hour window sitting in what passed for a kitchen drinking coffee that tasted like it had been made from grounds salvaged from previous safe house evacuations.
"Can't sleep?" she asked.
"Can't stop thinking about what Marcus is doing while we're hiding."
She poured her own coffee and sat across from me at a table that wobbled when she set the cup down. "He's regrouping. Assessing losses. Recalculating approach now that he knows what you can do and what we're willing to risk to stop him."
"You say that like you know how he thinks."
"I spent five years studying his operation before I faked my death. I know exactly how he thinks. Methodical. Patient. Willing to sacrifice short-term losses for long-term positioning. Right now he's angry about Morgan but he's already planning three moves ahead of that anger."
