Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: This School… Has Problems

After coming down from upstairs, Kamio Tatsuya didn't immediately follow the GPS directions on his phone to the school auditorium to wait for the start of the opening ceremony. Instead, he turned into a coffee shop on the first floor of the school.

The coffee shop also had a name called Palette.

After entering the coffee shop, a waiter inside looked over, seeming a little surprised.

Kamio Tatsuya saw this, but he didn't pay attention. Instead, he looked at the decorations above the bar, where the price list was.

Medium latte… costs 320 points. The price seems okay?

And judging from the price, it seems like what Chabashira-sensei said is true, this school really uses points.

"Welcome, what would you like?"

A young and cute female waiter actively asked Kamio Tatsuya what he needed, with a standard business smile on her face. It was clear she was well-trained.

Kamio Tatsuya returned the smile: "A medium latte, room temperature, with milk and sugar, please."

"Okay, please wait a moment."

After a short conversation, the waiter got busy. Kamio Tatsuya continued to look around the shop.

He came to the conclusion that the environment and layout were very good. And they didn't just offer coffee, but also various cakes and desserts.

And there were many tables and chairs in the shop, so it looked like they also supported eating inside…

Just as he was lost in thought, the waiter's voice came again.

"Your medium latte, room temperature, with milk and sugar."

"Thank you."

Then, Kamio Tatsuya took out his phone and opened the page showing his points. Following the waiter's instructions, he swiped 450 points on the shop's machine.

Balance: 99,550 ppt

It really works.

Kamio Tatsuya smiled and nodded to the waiter before picking up the coffee that had been placed on the table.

Kamio Tatsuya picked up the coffee and walked towards the door, then he heard a small discussion behind him.

"He doesn't seem like a typical high school student."

"Yeah, yeah, he feels like he has the ease of an adult. He doesn't have that loud, excited feeling that students have, and he's also handsome."

"Yeah, he must be an elite from Class A!"

"Very likely. Even if he's not from Class A, he's at least a student from Class B. There's no way he's from Class D, right?" When she said the last part, her tone was clearly teasing.

Hearing this, Kamio Tatsuya stopped and turned around, looking at them in surprise.

But when they noticed Kamio Tatsuya's movement, they immediately shut their mouths. However, the girl who made Kamio Tatsuya's coffee secretly winked at him.

Wow, you're pretty playful.

Solve problems when you encounter them. Kamio Tatsuya was about to go back and ask them what they meant by what they just said when…

The door of the coffee shop was pushed open, and two people walked in. Kamio Tatsuya subconsciously turned his head to look.

A man and a woman, both wearing the school uniform, and both had very obvious features.

The man was tall, even taller than Kamio Tatsuya. The most obvious feature was that he had no hair, not even eyebrows. His expression was serious, and he seemed very steady.

As for the woman, she wasn't as tall. Instead, she was very petite, with striking silver hair and a white beret on her head. She wore white suspender stockings and had a faint smile on her face. The most recognizable thing was the cane she was holding in her hand.

Students from other classes?

Because of the appearance of outsiders, Kamio Tatsuya gave up the idea of asking about the previous topic. He turned around and walked towards the door of the coffee shop.

After Kamio Tatsuya left, the tall man immediately spoke.

"That student just now, was he the one who passed by our class earlier? Sakayanagi, if it were you, you would have noticed him just now."

"That's right, Katsuragi-kun, I did notice him. That's him, but so what?"

The white-haired girl casually replied, then leaned on her cane and walked towards the bar.

Katsuragi's enthusiasm was met with a cold shoulder, and he wasn't very happy.

After Kamio Tatsuya left the coffee shop, he drank his coffee while thinking about the information that the two waiters had unintentionally revealed.

An elite from Class A, or at least Class B, definitely not Class D…

Honestly, it's kind of strange.

It's as if students from Class A and Class B should be mature and steady, while students from Class D should be carefree. Aren't we all just first-year high school students?

And I was just being a little cold and polite for a moment, and you waiters said I was steady. You guys are too easily surprised.

If we're talking about steadiness, Class D isn't without steady people. That leader looks pretty steady.

If we're talking about politeness, Kushida Kikyo, who wants to be friends with everyone, is no less polite.

So, what basis do they have for thinking I'm a student from Class A or B?

Before he knew it, Kamio Tatsuya arrived at the school auditorium. After throwing the now empty coffee cup into the trash can, Kamio Tatsuya entered the auditorium.

There were still about twenty minutes before the start of the opening ceremony, and there were already quite a few people here, mostly wearing the same school uniform.

Judging from the number of people, it shouldn't just be first-year students, even second and third-year students should be here.

After finding the location of his homeroom teacher, Kamio Tatsuya took out his phone, opened the map, and began to familiarize himself with the various facilities in the school.

After some time…

"Students from each class, please line up in two rows in your respective class areas according to the rules. First-year students, please line up according to the location of your homeroom teacher."

A male voice sounded through the loudspeaker in the auditorium. Hearing this voice, most of the students began to line up consciously. The students in the far east of the auditorium were the first to take action. Judging from their height and how old they looked, they were probably third-year students.

The slowest were naturally the first-year students. Even with the homeroom teacher's instructions, they were still moving slowly.

After lining up, Kamio Tatsuya stood at the back of the line due to personal reasons. To his right were the girls from his class, and to his left…

There was no one to his left…

What's going on?

This should be the second-year line.

Kamio Tatsuya's Class D has a total of forty students, twenty boys and twenty girls. If they're divided into two rows, that's twenty people in each row.

And Kamio Tatsuya is standing at the very back, so he's the twentieth person. The number of people in the row to his right is correct, there are twenty people. But the second-year class to his left has eighteen boys and nineteen girls.

Are three people late? Or do they all have diarrhea?

No, that's unlikely.

Because from Kamio Tatsuya's position, not only the class next to Class D, but even the classes further away, all the way to the end of the third-year classes, weren't at full strength.

After roughly counting, there were almost twenty people missing in total.

Surely not all of these people have diarrhea or are late, right?

Something's wrong…
