Synopsis
There’s a place behind the Wraithgate where things shouldn’t be alive, but they are.
The monsters there aren’t random. Some follow people who want too much. Some stay close to people who can’t let go of what they want. Others don’t attack at all — they just wait, and somehow that’s worse.
Four kids end up there. None of them were meant to be heroes. The longer they stay, the more certain creatures seem to recognize them. Like they’ve met before. Like something inside them called the monsters over.
There’s a blind man in that world who knows what happens next, but won’t say it straight. He talks about mistakes instead of creatures. About how nothing bad starts out wanting to be bad.
And then there’s the King. He doesn’t move much. He doesn’t need to. Everything in that place happens because he’s still there.
The gate can be closed. But the monsters won’t disappear. And not everyone who walks back through it comes back the same.
