Chapter 15 - Jealous of a Man

"Not exactly an ordinary person, but just a neighbor. I figured it'd be good to interact more—having someone to look out for each other."

Z-City's uninhabited district had long since become desolate due to the sheer number of monsters. Compared to other areas, it was practically empty of human life.

So when Luo Yu mentioned a neighbor—and one who wasn't ordinary at that—Fubuki's curiosity was immediately piqued.

"There are still people living in this building?" she asked in surprise.

"Didn't everyone say the uninhabited district was basically abandoned? How did you even find someone living here—and not a normal person at that?"

Luo Yu smiled.

"If monsters show up this often, do you really think anyone who dares live here would be ordinary?"

Fubuki froze for a moment.

"I see…"

"Then… how many times has he been here already? What do you usually do together?"

Luo Yu narrowed his eyes slightly, genuinely unable to understand what this young lady was getting at.

"Miss Fubuki, what exactly are you worried about?" he asked.

"It's only been two days. Forget doing things together—I've barely even exchanged a few words with him."

Noticing the puzzled look Luo Yu gave her, Fubuki felt a lump form in her chest. She found herself annoyed—and at the same time, confused by her own reaction.

To be fair, she came over to Luo Yu's place all the time herself.

The only reason she'd missed his move to the uninhabited district was because of the giant incident.

Less than two days had passed.

Yet she already felt uneasy—an inexplicable sense of crisis.

They hadn't even defined their relationship, and yet she cared so much about every detail of his life.

The realization made Fubuki's face burn. She quickly lowered her head, trying to hide her embarrassment.

Still, the unease wouldn't go away. What made it worse was that she'd practically spelled everything out already—yet this seemingly perfect man in front of her hadn't noticed a thing.

Do I really have to be the one to make the first move…?

"I'm sorry, Mr. Luo Yu," she said softly. "I was being too intrusive."

"Then… will he be joining us for dinner?"

Since there was nothing to hide, Luo Yu answered casually.

"Of course. If I want to get closer to him, inviting him over for a meal makes sense."

"I see… It's getting late, then. Let me help you bring the dishes out."

"Sure. Use your psychic powers—much faster and more convenient."

Fubuki's brow instantly creased.

She'd offered to help on a whim, and Luo Yu didn't hold back at all.

Psychic powers to carry dishes?

Only he would say something like that so naturally.

Still, this wasn't the time to be picky. She swallowed her frustration and said nothing.

Ding-dong.

Not long after the dishes were set, the doorbell rang.

As Luo Yu opened the door, a blinding flash nearly dazzled Fubuki's eyes.

"What kind of person glows like that…?" she muttered from inside.

The next moment, a bald head appeared, and Saitama walked in with his usual goofy grin.

"Ahhh, Luo Yu-kun! We finally meet again!" he said cheerfully.

"What did you make for dinner tonight? I couldn't wait any longer!"

Despite having already mooched breakfast and lunch, Saitama still looked like he was about to drool.

Luo Yu shot him a sideways glance and lowered his voice.

"Just ordinary home cooking—sweet-and-sour ribs, spicy shredded potatoes, that kind of thing."

"And wipe your drool already. You're not the only guest tonight."

Saitama immediately wiped his mouth and curiously peeked into the room.

The moment he saw Fubuki, his eyes widened.

"Hey… Luo Yu-kun, do you already have a girlfriend?"

"Am I interrupting something by coming over to eat?"

Luo Yu waved it off.

"She's not my girlfriend. Just like you—someone who comes over often to freeload meals."

Saitama instantly relaxed.

"Oh! Then that's a relief. Thanks for the dinner tonight too, Luo Yu-kun!"

"No problem," Luo Yu replied calmly.

"You're not eating for free anyway. For me, it's just one extra pair of chopsticks."

The two chatted naturally.

Meanwhile, Fubuki grew more and more perplexed.

She couldn't understand it at all.

How could someone as mysterious and unfathomable as Luo Yu be friends with…

a bald man who looked so utterly plain?

No matter how she looked at Saitama, she couldn't see anything appealing.

And once dinner began, Saitama's careless eating only deepened her dissatisfaction.

Five minutes into the meal—

"Hey, lady," Saitama said darkly, glaring at Fubuki.

"There's plenty of food. Could you stop grabbing mine?"

"Just because you have psychic powers doesn't mean you're amazing, you know?"

Fubuki calmly took another small bite, then shot him a sharp look.

"I didn't take your food just now."

"And aren't you almost thirty? Bald already, and you still have the nerve to call me 'lady'?"

It was obvious—Fubuki was deliberately picking a fight.

Saitama's face darkened further, the tension in the room rising instantly.

Seeing this, Luo Yu hurried to smooth things over.

"Fubuki, it's just dinner. There's really no need to argue, right?"

"If you're especially hungry today, just tell me. I can cook a few more dishes."

Fubuki felt uncomfortable, but after calming down, she realized she had overreacted.

She lowered her head.

"I… I just wanted to eat faster. I still have some things to handle at home."

"So… I'll head back first, Mr. Luo Yu. You two enjoy your meal."

"You're leaving?" Luo Yu stood up at once, sensing something was off.

"Do you want me to walk you out?"

"No need," she said quickly.

"You have a guest here. I'll be fine on my own."

With that, Fubuki left, her expression unreadable.

The room fell into silence.

After a long while, Saitama finally looked at Luo Yu suspiciously.

"By the way, Luo Yu-kun… that woman really isn't your girlfriend?"

"Why do I feel like there's something… kind of unclear between you two?"

To be honest, Luo Yu did wish something like that were possible.

Fubuki's looks and figure were easily top-tier in the entire series.

But the moment he thought about her overconfident personality, he shook his head.

Too troublesome.

No one understood Fubuki better than him.

Imagining her falling for him was fine as a fantasy—but in reality, her difficulty level was sky-high.

"No chance," he said firmly.

"That's just how she is. You probably annoyed her with your table manners."

"From now on, if you come over for dinner, maybe just take food home instead."

"During the day she's out hunting monsters anyway. You can come over freely then."

Saitama blankly shoveled some rice into his mouth.

"So that's how it is…"

"I thought she was jealous."

"But yeah… a woman being jealous of a man? That'd be ridiculous."

"Right?" Luo Yu nodded.

"You know it's ridiculous, so of course I do too."

"She is pretty, but she probably hasn't even thought about dating yet."

Seeing the hint of regret on Luo Yu's face, Saitama suddenly put on a lecherous grin.

"Tsk tsk, Luo Yu-kun, sounds like you do have ideas."

"No wonder you wanted to send me away tonight. And here I was, kindly showing you around the neighborhood yesterday. You're really heartless."

Luo Yu looked at him with utter disdain.

"Heh. How about this—if I make braised pork every night, I'll cook as much as you want. Deal?"

Saitama's eyes lit up instantly.

"Deal!"
