Chapter 28 - It Wasn't Over

Mila had been at Dante's office since 8:30 in the morning. 

Everything was back to normal like the fire at the docks never happened, and no one was killed or tortured.

There was coffee at her desk, her laptop was open, and she had three windows running searches on the Castellano family's recent financial activity. Without random reports taking up her time...she was able to build a timeline by tracking wire transfers, cross-referencing shell companies, mapping out the flow of money between their legitimate businesses and the operations that weren't so legitimate.

Dante was at his desk, working through a stack of contracts. He'd been quiet most of the morning, focused on his work while occasionally making notes in the margins or flipping back to earlier pages to compare clauses. it was the kind of work that required attention but not conversation.
