Walking out of that office felt like escaping a battlefield, and naturally, I collided straight into Roxanne. The universe really had a twisted sense of humor. Thank God the tears threatening to spill hadn't made their grand debut yet. I swallowed them down as she strutted closer.
That woman had the absolute nerve to look flawless in the early morning. Her impossibly short skirt danced around her thighs with every calculated step. Those ridiculous heeled boots clicked against the floor like a warning bell, paired with some cropped cardigan that showcased way too much of her perfectly bronzed midriff. Her raven-black hair cascaded down to her waist in a waterfall of glossy perfection.
Meanwhile, I looked like I'd been dressed by a blind person having a seizure.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Roxanne's voice cut through the hallway like broken glass.
