Lyra's POV
Walking into the gymnasium the following morning felt like stepping into a battlefield where I was the sole target. The moment I emerged from the locker room, every conversation ceased. Every pair of eyes locked onto me with expressions ranging from disgust to outright hostility.
"Lyra," Poppy whispered beside me, her voice barely audible. "Maybe you should explain what's happening?"
"There's nothing to explain that you don't already know," I muttered, scanning the hostile faces surrounding us. A particularly tall Alpha male actually sneered when our eyes met. Hushed conversations buzzed around me, deliberately kept just below normal human hearing range.
Unfortunately for them, I wasn't entirely human.
I focused on sharpening my hearing to catch the whispers floating through the air. The moment the words became clear, I wished I hadn't bothered.
"Someone saw her leaving the training facility with Ash Ironwood after closing time yesterday."
