At that time, Luna still had no idea who the mysterious person was who had helped them through their tough times. Never had she any idea of the identity of the person she had offended that night in the club.
Once she made her way downstairs, her eyes landed on the person who was sitting on the sofa with his long legs crossed. He had a very calm disposition, a chiselled face and a relatively severe aura around him as if he belonged to some nobility. His features were exquisite. And one couldn't help but stare at his ravishing face longer than normal.
She frowned; it took her some time to recognise him. But once she did, her eyes widened. "Is that you?" When he looked up, Luna's eyes widened.
It was him.
It had already been a year, but the face of that person was still fresh in her memory. She had never slapped anyone in her life.
Not to mention, there was something about this man that made it hard to forget about him. There was something very unsettling about him.
Besides that Sisi took delight in scaring Luna by telling her he would return to avenge himself. Each and every day, Sis would play pranks on Luna, scaring her into memorising that face and never forgetting him despite it being a year.
"What are you doing here?" Her tone was not very warm, but rather hostile. She had absolutely no good image of that man in her mind. The other day, the way he had treated that woman, Luna felt disgusted at his character.
Evan was speechless.
"Lulu..."
He had wanted to talk with her. But now that she was suddenly here, he didn't know how to handle things. And more than that, he was shocked: 'Why was her tone so impolite just now?'
Before he could say anything, Daimen spoke up.
"You recognised me?" Daimen's lips were still curled up. His tone held an edge of amusement. His usual nonchalant and relatively dull eyes lightened slightly once he had looked at her.
Luna crossed her arms in front of her chest. "How can I fail to recognise someone like you?" She tilted her head to one side with a hateful smile. Hatred and scorn were clear in her expressions.
Daimen's expressions didn't change. Being glared at by her, he didn't feel any sort of anger. Instead, her ferocious stare amused him.
Evan went into panic: 'Lulu was always polite and nice. Why did she have a change in attitude? If Mr Blackwell felt offended, their entire family could be killed!'
"Luna." Evan's voice rose. It was rare that he called her by her name. He openly reprimanded her. "Mind your tone!" He didn't know what else to say. He didn't want to tell her who he was.
Luna had never been rebuked by her older cousin. She couldn't understand the situation.
But her cousin didn't know what kind of man he was!
"Cousin, you don't know what kind of person he is. I have met him before-" Luna's voice grew louder. However, she was cut off by Evan
"Shut your mouth, Luna!"
Luna could not believe it. Her cousin was not even letting her talk. Before today, he had always supported her no matter what the situation was. And now he was not even willing to listen to her?
At that time, a light chuckle was heard. In the silence of the lounge, all of them heard it.
That chuckle was like a dagger cutting Evan's spine to the whole length. Evan was on the verge of a breakdown. Daimen's chuckle was definitely not a merry one. It was a mocking one. And Evan understood the meaning behind it.
However, it had an opposite effect on the naive young Luna. Anger bubbled inside her.
"Did my Cousin say something funny? Who do you think you-" Before she could continue, a hand raised and slapped her face.
A noise resonated; then silence dominated.
Luna was shocked. Tear-filled her eyes in an instant as she placed her hands on her face. She looked at her cousin with shocked eyes.
His face was full of wrath and a little bit of panic.
"C-Cousin?" She couldn't believe it. The cousin who had doted on her since she was little suddenly raised a hand on her?
She was never slapped before. Not even her uncle had ever raised a hand on her.
Daimen was silent the whole time. Once he saw that she had been slapped, his eyes darkened suddenly.
"Mr Hart still hasn't told his sister anything?" Cole spoke up suddenly after looking at his Boss's expression. "We were aware that Ms Hart signatures were fake. But we didn't expect that you wouldn't have told her until now."
Evan's heart was in his throat.
"Ms Blackwell, I deeply apologise to you for my sister's lack of respect", He frantically said and bowed deeply in front of Daimen. "She is naive and young. Please forgive her in my stead."
"Cousin, what haven't you told me? What signs?" Luna asked quietly.
What was happening?
Why did her cousin look so scared of that man?
Scared to the extent that he slapped her?
"Lulu, go to your room." Evan's voice was grave.
His sister had caused enough damage. If she were to stay here, God knew how many more disrespectful things she would say to that terrifying man.
And what if that man took something seriously?
After all, she would have to live with him one day.
"Cousin..."
"I said, go to your room! Now!" Evan snapped at her angrily.
Luna took a couple of steps back. Tears were brimming in her eyes. However, she clenched her jaw and didn't let a single one fall. She blinked them back and glanced at Daimen. Their eyes met for a second. Her gaze was strong, unwilling to yield in any case. Turning around, she ran back to her room.
"Mr Blackwell, let me explain. We'll teach her well. She won't misbehave with you in future—"
"That can be settled later. First of all," Daimen cut him. "We need to do something with those hands. They touched something that belongs to me."
Evan's eyes widened in horror. "Mr Blackwell?"
Cole understood Damien's intentions and gestured to his bodyguards. They stepped forward and pulled down Evan.
That man was going to learn the consequences of laying hands on his woman.
