"Clang, clang, clang..."
Middle Princess and Dido's attacks constantly clashed. Each collision produced a loud bang and intense sparks. It was a clash of pure power, creating shockwaves in the air that rippled outward one after another, churning the sea into a tumultuous mess.
The Ship Girls behind them also reached the center of the Third Abyssal Anchorage. Upon seeing a large number of Ship Girls suddenly appear, the Abyssal Warship groups all launched their attacks.
Whales were howling—this was a celebration. They could finally eat the flesh of Ship Girls. To them, the smooth and tender flesh of Ship Girls was the best food.
"Ship Girls are delicious. Kill them all, eat them, sink them!"
The Abyssal Destroyers bared their teeth and opened their maws. Their pitch-black gun barrels emitted a piercing light, and countless shells rained down on the Ship Girls like rain.
Loading and firing shells at the Ship Girls' bodies, then reloading and firing again—they repeated this relentlessly, determined to hit every part of the Ship Girls.
The Abyssal Battleships calibrated their main and secondary batteries, took aim, and fired. Countless shells began to rain down on the path ahead.
Facing this overwhelming barrage of Abyssal shells, the Ship Girls responded with their own skills. The fast Destroyers immediately began to dodge, while the Battleships and Aircraft Carriers used energy shields to defend.
"What an exaggerated amount! But Javelin won't be afraid. Invincible Tornado Spear!" Javelin grabbed the center of her spear and spun it rapidly in front of her, forming a circle. When the shells hit, they were all blocked.
"Magical girl on the scene! Magic Shield, deploy! Hee hee! These attacks can't hurt me." Saratoga deployed an energy shield. As the shells constantly struck the shield, she blocked them with ease.
"Let me show you the power of a Demon God." Ayanami's technique was even more impressive. She directly cut the incoming shells in half one by one. The halved shells exploded behind her, the resulting air currents making her hair flutter wildly.
The intense battle between the Ship Girls and the Abyssals reached a fever pitch. Through their hard work, although over a dozen Ship Girls were lost, it was much better than the Abyssals, who had lost nearly half their forces.
The sea was covered in thick smoke and sunken vessels, both Abyssal and Ship Girl alike.
While the Ship Girls here were fighting a heated battle, the Admirals outside weren't idle either. They were cheering them on. Although their Ship Girls couldn't hear them, it was at least better than doing nothing.
"Look! Look! My Little Sara is so fierce! Stepping on a fighter plane in the sky, she's constantly using her bridge staff to knock down the Abyssal fighters. Admiral loves you, I'll always be your supporter!"
"Hmph! What does that count for? My sweetheart Haman is even more amazing. Look, since she learned that Cat Giant Paw, she slaps every Abyssal to Death. She only uses her hands, no shells or torpedoes. Powerful, right? Go, Haman! When you come out, I'll buy you fish to eat."
"No, no, no! I think that Ayanami is more impressive. Cutting shells with a sword, how cool is that! I wonder which bastard was lucky enough to build her. I'm so jealous!"
"You guys have it good! I'm miserable. All my Ship Girls have sunk. Wuwuwu, I didn't get any precious items, and I lost my Ship Girls instead. This time, I've truly lost the bait and the fish!"
"Brother, my condolences. Danger and opportunity are the norms of Azure Island. Look on the bright side. Though you suffered a crushing defeat this time, you'll surely succeed next time! As the saying goes, failure is the mother of success."
This was a battlefield, and it was normal for Ship Girls to sink. Only after being baptized by gunfire can Ship Girls grow faster and become important warriors in eliminating the Abyssals.
High above, Illustrious—still cradling Souryuu—shot through the sky. After putting considerable distance between herself and the battlefield, she alighted on a small island, found a clear spot, and gently set Souryuu down.
She pulled healing salves from her rigging space, fed them to Souryuu, then immediately launched again, racing toward Dido. That Third Nightmare Abyssal was terrifyingly strong; she only prayed Dido could hold out a little longer.
Boom—boom—boom—
A dozen sword-qi arcs slashed down from the heavens. Middle Princess weaved between them; anything she couldn't dodge she shattered with her bare fists. The moment the last blade dissolved she streaked straight for Dido like lightning.
Seeing Middle Princess charge like a woman possessed, Dido gripped her greatsword in both hands. When the distance closed to half a foot she slashed upward with everything she had, meaning to cleave the Princess in two.
The blade bit home—Middle Princess split clean in half. Yet no blood fountained out. A chill ran through Dido: Had I really killed her in one stroke?
Wrong. A remnant image. Where's the real body? Dido spun full circle but found nothing; only an icy wind at her back told her the enemy was still out there—somewhere.
"Above you." The voice drifted down from overhead.
Middle Princess hovered directly above Dido, voice laced with mystery. "Ever heard of an Abyssal fist-style that falls from the sky? No? Then watch closely."
Heaven-Fifth Fist!
Earth-Law Fist!
Life-Thunder Fist!
Myriad-Righteous Fist!
Matter-Union Fist!
Fist upon fist, five become one—Ship-Sinking Annihilation Fist!
From her dive the Princess hurled a five-zhang-wide titanic energy fist. The instant it formed the air congealed and space quaked; the sky itself seemed to recoil from the spectacle.
Pinned by that monstrous blow, Dido could not dodge—she could only receive it. Yet how could anyone receive something so dreadful?
But receive it she must, or die. Her eyes hardened, resolve flooding her face.
Only a little fist—let's see what it's worth. Dido raised her greatsword high, channeling every scrap of Ship Qi from her Epic core. The black radiance deepened until the blade shone like a bottomless abyss.
With a sharp cry she slashed skyward.
"Black Bloom!"
A three-zhang crescent of black energy erupted from the sword, screaming through the air as though it could split a mountain lengthwise.
