I stared at Rebecca's belly and felt nothing warm, nothing soft. Just cold, settled fury. "Rebecca, my baby is dead. Don't think for one second that you and your mother walk away from this clean."
Her careful expression dropped immediately. "You're insane! What are you even saying?"
"Insane?" I held both fists tight at my sides, my voice low and controlled in a way that felt more dangerous than screaming. "When your mother made her move, she should have thought about what an insane woman like me would do in return."
I grabbed the chair beside me and swung it at her before anyone could react. She screamed.
Ashton ripped it from my hands. He looked at me like he didn't recognize what he was seeing. "Scarlett, stop. We lost one baby, but we can have another."
