Chapter 1 - A CHILDISH PLAY

INTRODUCTION

A hidden reality is always weighed down by expectations—whether they can be fulfilled or not. In today's world, people often wear those expectations like masks, concealing their true selves beneath carefully crafted smiles. They bury their real personalities so deep that anyone who tries to uncover the truth is bound to fall into a trap.

Chapter 1: A Strange Interview

Bangkok, Thailand — 8:00 a.m.

Sin stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his worn-out shirt as he prepared himself for yet another interview. Rejection was no longer unfamiliar to him. He had already been turned away by several companies, and each refusal felt heavier than the last.

Sin was an orphan .

He had been born into a life that offered him little mercy. His parents had died in a car accident when he was still very young, and with no one willing to take responsibility for him, he was raised in an orphanage. Though some relatives existed, none had stepped forward to care for him.

Despite everything, Sin had grown into a hardworking and intelligent student. He scored well in school and college, yet his life had never been easy. In high school, he was bullied for being poor and for having no family. Every new school program promised opportunity, but there was never anyone to guide him or cheer him on.

So Sin learned to stand alone.

He became independent early in life, facing every challenge by himself. After completing high school, he managed to get into college, but financial pressure followed him there too. To support himself, he searched for part-time work to cover his daily needs, exams, and upcoming projects.

He spoke to many people. He applied everywhere.

Most of them rejected him.

Until one day, a week later, his phone rang.

The number was unknown.

The caller informed him that he had been selected for an interview. No company name. No job description. Only instructions to arrive during the daytime.

Sin was confused, but desperation left him little choice. He pushed his doubts aside and focused on his college project instead.

The next day arrived quickly.

It was the weekend, and for a brief moment, Sin felt relieved. After eating his simple meal, he booked a cab and headed toward the location he had been given.

What he saw left him speechless.

Before him stood a massive palace-like building—grand, elegant, and impossibly beautiful. It looked nothing like an office. Sin hesitated, wondering if he had come to the wrong place.

Before he could turn back, a man dressed like a butler approached him and led him inside. He was asked to wait in a large hall.

The hall was enormous.

Many people were already seated there, all waiting silently for their turn. Sin glanced around, feeling nervous but hopeful. Soon, a strange couple stepped out from a nearby room and asked everyone to remain patient. They announced that interviews would be conducted one by one in the next room.

Moments later, Sin realized something unsettling.

He was the only person who had been called by name.

One by one, candidates entered the room—and one by one, they came out disappointed, angry, or heartbroken. All of them were rejected.

Finally, it was Sin's turn.

He stepped into the room and froze.

Inside sat a boy who looked to be around Sin's age. Yet his behaviour was childlike—he laughed, spoke strangely, and played with objects as if he were still a little kid. Sin quickly understood.

This was the one he was meant to babysit.

The boy was huge—almost giant-like—and the strange couple standing nearby watched Sin closely, their eyes sharp and unreadable. Sin felt as though they were staring directly into his soul.

The boy's name was Bag.

The moment Bag saw Sin, his face lit up with joy. He smiled brightly, clapped his hands, and stared at him with excitement. The couple asked Bag whether he liked Sin and wanted him as his babysitter.

Bag nodded happily.

The decision was made.

Sin stood there, heart pounding, unsure whether this was a blessing or the beginning of something terrifying.

What would happen to him now?

To be continued…
