Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Cubone and its Child

They've gathered so many berries from this forest; won't that make it impossible for the wild Pokémon living here to survive the winter?

Thinking of the many Pokémon that starved to death because of this, Fuyuki couldn't help but look at Entei, trying to ask it for details.

"Eeya eeya?"

Hearing the little one on its back speak, Entei immediately used telepathy to ask:

"What's wrong?"

Fuyuki pointed to the berry tree with only a few berries left, then looked at the departing Kangaskhan.

"Waaa, ahhh?"

Although there was still a language gap between them, seeing the worry and pity on the little one's face, Entei miraculously understood what it meant at this moment.

He then looked solemnly at the berry trees and explained telepathically:

"Don't worry, even if we picked some berries, the rest won't be enough to keep them from surviving the winter."

"Because I didn't pick them from the same place. The berries in the cave were collected from many places, and I only brought back a little from each place."

"More importantly, berries are very special.

Even if they were all picked from the trees, they would regrow and be full of berries in less than three days."

Hearing Entei's explanation, Fuyuki finally felt relieved.

He couldn't bear the thought of any Pokémon starving to death in winter because of this.

Was Little One worried that the Pokémon here would go hungry because they had picked too many berries?

Entei was somewhat surprised, but then felt immense pride and joy. His Little One was truly kind!

The man and his Pokémon continued on their way. After a while, Fuyuki felt a little tired. A wave of drowsiness washed over him, and he nestled on Entei's back, dozing off.

Seeing this, Entei said nothing. It immediately turned around, preparing to take the little guy back to the cave to sleep.

But just as the two of them passed the spot where the Kangaskhan mother had been picking berries, Entei suddenly heard a cry for help.

The voice was filled with anxiety and panic.

Entei frowned slightly and immediately ran towards the sound.

And the dozing Fuyuki was quickly awakened by the cry.

What was that sound?

Entei soon arrived at its destination.

There, beneath the berry tree, stood the same Marowak mother and cub from before.

The mother Marowak was looking anxiously at her child, Cubone.

"What happened?" Entei frowned, his majestic voice resonating deep within Marowak's heart.

"Gara!" Marowak glanced at Entei with some reverence, then explained.

It turned out that its child, Cubone, had been too mischievous. Seeing a tree fruit pit on the ground, it mistook it for food and swallowed it.

Unexpectedly, the pit got stuck in its throat; it couldn't spit it out, nor could it swallow it down.

Cubone was now lying on the ground, barely breathing.

Its eyes were tightly closed, looking extremely painful, only its round belly heaving.

Clearly, Cubone was in great distress.

What should be done?

Entei frowned, trying to help Cubone, but it had never encountered such a situation before and didn't know what to do.

Seeing that Entei was helpless, Cubone's mother grew increasingly anxious, letting out mournful cries as she watched her child's breath slowly ebb away.

Just then, Entei and Cubone's mother suddenly heard a childish voice.

"Eee-yah-yah?"

Cubone's mother looked up and saw a human cub on Entei's back.

"Little one?" Entei was slightly taken aback.

Then, it felt the little one on its back begin to struggle, seemingly trying to get off.

Entei was puzzled, but still bent down.

Fuyuki slid off Entei and crawled to the Cubone lying on the ground, observing its condition.

Seeing its pained expression and reaction, Fuyuki immediately realized that the Cubone was choking on its food!

"Eeeeeeee!" Fuyuki quickly turned to Entei and its mother, Cubone, gesturing for them to help the Cubone up from the ground.

The two Pokémon didn't understand and didn't react immediately.

Seeing this, Fuyuki grew anxious and quickly climbed to Cubone's side, reaching out to pull it up forcefully.

Cubone was somewhat bewildered, but Entei reacted.

After spending these past few days together, it was quite familiar with its little one.

Its little one never acted without reason.

Seeing its little one's actions, Entei immediately said in a deep voice to its mother,

"Help it up!"

Cubone looked puzzled, but quickly realized that the one before it seemed to have a way to save its child!

It immediately helped the Cubone up from the ground.

Seeing this, Fuyuki climbed behind Cubone again and began striking the area between Cubone's shoulder blades and spine with his weak fists.

But it had no effect.

His strength was too weak.

Frustrated, Fuyuki could only look at Entei, signaling it to come to him.

"Eeee-yah-yah!"

He grabbed Entei's large paw and tried to pull Cubone away.

Entei understood his meaning. It immediately swung its paw, the immense force sending Cubone flying, along with the tree fruit seed stuck in its throat.

"Cough cough cough cough!"

Cubone coughed violently, then looked pained.

The round tree fruit seed rolled to the ground.

Seeing this, Cubone's mother's face lit up with ecstatic joy.

She rushed forward to check on her child's condition.

When it discovered that Cubone was only slightly injured and otherwise unharmed, it breathed a sigh of relief.

It looked at the human and Entei with gratitude.

Entei's cloud-like mane fluttered in the wind. Standing there, a hint of tenderness appeared on his usually stern face.

Fuyuki grinned at Cubone's mother and giggled.

Seeing the matter resolved, Entei picked up Fuyuki, placed him on its back, turned, and slowly walked away.

Unbeknownst to the two, a small figure was observing everything with a gleaming gaze in their shadows.
