Marisol wasn't standing by the window. She was sitting dead-center on my bed, her legs tucked under her, leaning back against the headboard. She looked entirely too comfortable. Gideon was pacing at the foot of the bed, a cell phone pressed to his ear.
"I don't care about the logistics, Marcus," Gideon barked into the phone, his eyes flicking to me for a split second before returning to the carpet. "The shipment needs to be at the northern border by Tuesday. If the rogue presence is an issue, double the guards. Just get it done."
I stood by the bathroom door, my hands trembling in the pockets of my hoodie. "Marisol? Why are you still in here?"
Marisol didn't even look up from her nails. "I told you, Ellie. I wanted Gideon to be around the baby. Even now, at this stage, the Alpha's aura is beneficial for the development of the soul-spark. Isn't that right, Gid?"
'Gid'? She was already addressing him so casually?
