"Remember what?" Jarek stood up, stumbling slightly as he grabbed his discarded trousers from the floor, pulling them on with agitated, clumsy movements. "I remember the fever. I remember the dark. I remember..."
He trailed off, his jaw tightening until the bone looked ready to snap. "Tell me we didn't."
"We did. You had an episode. It was intense. You reached for me, Jarek. You held me like you were drowning and I was the only thing keeping you alive. We had sex. Twice." I announced, my chin lifting.
"No." He slammed his fist into the wardrobe, the wood groaning. "No, no, no. You knew! You knew I wasn't in my right mind, Hera! You knew the feral fever turns my brain into a goddamn blender! Why the hell didn't you stop me? Why did you abet this?"
"Abet this?" I shrieked, the duvet slipping as I stepped toward him. "Is that what you call it? I'm disgusting to you now? Do I have a disability? Am I some hideous creature you accidentally tripped over in the dark?"
