"Now that you decrypted the mystery... you will be the next mystery."
Heavien stiffened in her seat and shuddered. She feels like fainting just from thinking about the fact that one of the three of them is a killer. She can't say that Brenille's thought is wrong. He is right, exactly.
"That's enough, Brenille. You're being paranoid." Trake is changing the heated atmosphere because it is getting intense.
She thought earlier that one of them could be a killer. It sucks, but that can be the truth.
"First's body-"
"Leonthan," she interrupted Brenille. He seems puzzled by what she remarked. "His name is Leonthan Hortaia." This is the least that she can do. She wants them to remember Leonthan using his real name.
"I'll go outside and reexamine Hortaia, Leonthan's corpse," Brenille left them in worry.
"Don't," Trake interrupted him. "It's not yet safe."
"Yes, and who knows what's outside? If you really want to, we'll go with you," She insisted.
She couldn't help but worry about the two of them. Even if they say one of the three of them is a killer, they are still her friends. She doesn't want to be less of a friend. She will accept what happens to whoever is the killer of the two of them as long as... she won't lose another friend.
"No, I can handle myself." Brenille persisted. "I should not even trust any of you." He held onto his glowing eyeglasses. "Remember, we're enemies." He glared at them with a pressing tone on the word enemies.
"What did you say?!" She stopped Trake because of his hasty feeling. "Well, you're right. Do you think we could trust you?"
"You're doing better, Trake. I have trained you well, being your leader from the very start of the tri-games. I hope that you all learned something from me." Brenille then went out the door and left the mansion.
"That's enough," Heavien sat Trake on the sofa so he could calm himself down.
"Sorry," Trake apologized and scratched his head.
"It's okay."
"Tsk, I can't understand that guy. He's ticking me off."
"Just keep yourself up."
"I know you're having doubts about me because of what Brenille presumed. I know you don't trust me well enough..."
She could feel a trace of sorrow in his voice.
"No, you're still my friend. Now that others and Leonthan are gone... you're the only one left to me."
"Even though! I know I can't replace that Leonthan of yours with me."
Heavien was silent for a moment as if she had run out of voice. Why? Why does she seem to be struck by what he expressed? Is it true that Trake can't even match Leonthan?
"What do you mean?" She forced a smile so he wouldn't notice her real reaction to what he said.
"That's the truth."
"Yes, you're right. You can never match Leonthan because you're you. That's why you don't have to catch up to him." A moment of silence for that awkward statement of hers.
He gazed at her. "Cy"
"Mm?"
"I'm aware you've lost your trust in me, or maybe it lessened because you think I might be one of the killers-"
"Not that, Trake-"
"Even if you don't say it, I know it. You're afraid I might hurt you, and I'm also afraid I might hurt you. But I wanted you to promise me something."
She quickly got uneasy when he was staring at her. The seriousness of his face and eyes. Even if she denies that she doubts him, that he might be one of the killers, she feels guilty for thinking of him that way. She's being a bad person, judging him without solid proof. He is her friend, the only familiar person whom she has met a long time ago on Earth.
"Many of your friends here died. I hope... I hope you accept the truth, no matter how mortifying it is."
What is he saying? What is the thing I should accept even if it's bad?
"Huh? I don't understand you."
"Right now, you still don't understand. But I know you're smart and you'll figure things out by yourself."
Trake doesn't seem to be the one she's talking to. No longer cheerful, that lightens the mood. Of those things he said, he is so sincere that she saw nothing of deception or a prank. Only now has she seen him like this.
"Can you promise me that?"
"With what? You know, Trake, I'll do anything I can just to save you and even Brenille. If there's a way that we can all get out of here safely, I'll do it." She proclaimed.
"Yeah, that's so you. Who knows what the result of this game will be? H*ck, I care about it with what's goin' on right now. But promise me that you'll accept the truth and don't hate yourself."
He must be talking about how she is grieving the deaths of her friends. She is slowly coming to hate herself for what she is not capable of doing. She simply let them all die while Leonthan was saving her. She doesn't deserve this. Trake is making her forgive herself.
Heavien lowered her head for a moment and nodded, even though she was confused by their situation.
He hugged her tightly and whispered, "Thank you."
Although she did not fully understand what he made her promise him, she knows for herself that she can fully trust him.
They waited a few minutes for Brenille to return. There is rumbling thunder and lightning that escalates the eerie ambiance. She guesses the weather is not good.
"He's late," she noticed he's getting later. Brenille is taking so long to get back.
"We should not leave this place, Heavien. It can be too dangerous outside. Brenille should meet us here."
"But he's taking longer than expected." She bit her lower lip
"He must be wandering. Don't worry too much. He's the smartest among us."
She remained seated on the sofa. Trake is lying down, watching the ceiling. She is drowsy because she has not had complete sleep, but they had to keep an eye on Brenille. She can't help but worry. While Brenille was away, she and Trake chatted for a while. He told her about his mark on his chest, and that was 'Neptune'. And 'Mars' was on Brenille's.
