"Shhh—shaa—"
Dust and sand billowed across the battlefield as four Pokémon locked horns in a tense stalemate.
At that moment, Peter arrived with several of his Pokémon and called out,
"Are you alright?"
"…Yeah."
The Lolita-dressed girl nodded, then spoke softly. "I'm Marley. Thank you for helping Shaymin and the flower fields."
Peter's eyes flickered with realization.
Marley.
He remembered that name.
In the games, Marley was one of Sinnoh's five Partner Trainers, each specializing in pushing a single attribute to its extreme. Marley focused on Speed. In the anime, her role was to help Shaymin cross Mount Coronet, eventually leading it to the flower fields where it met Ash and the others.
Interestingly, her design was strikingly similar to Ami, the ranch owner from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

…..
Before Peter could think further, Toxicroak and Skuntank charged in again.
Facing two high-level Elite-tier Pokémon, Lopunny and Arcanine were steadily pushed back. Thankfully, Dolliv's continuous interference kept the situation barely under control.
Seeing this, Peter spoke up coldly,
"Old man, Officer Jenny is already on her way. Are you sure you want to stay locked in a deadlock here?"
Charon's expression shifted slightly. He shot a glance at his subordinates—three grunts were still tangled up with the wild Pokémon.
"You three! Ignore the wild Pokémon and take them down immediately!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Heh…" Peter smirked. "You might want to worry about yourself first."
The instant his words fell—
The soil beneath Charon's feet loosened.
Zorua burst from underground in a flash, sharp claws slashing straight toward Charon's face!
This was a tactic Peter had prepared long ago—drawing attention through conversation while Zorua tunneled underground for a surprise attack.
However—
Clang!
A metallic shield materialized in front of Charon, blocking Zorua's strike completely.
"Hmph. Don't underestimate a scientist," Charon sneered, raising a mechanical shield integrated into his arm.
This was an emergency defensive mechanism developed alongside his mechanical arm—an invaluable tool for someone of his age in battle.
Peter raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? Then let me return that line to you—don't underestimate a Trainer."
The Zorua that had just been blocked suddenly exploded into smoke with a bang.
From the tunnel below, another small fox leapt out.
"Zorua!"
Dark shadows gathered beneath its feet, and in an instant it slipped behind Charon, claws slashing silently.
Shadow Sneak — Ghost-type physical move.
Power: 40. Priority move.
Strikes first with blinding speed.
This attack was clearly beyond Charon's reaction speed. Forced to respond, he raised his arm to block—
Suddenly, electric currents burst from his arm, colliding violently with Zorua's shadowy strike!
"Roto—!"
The electric entity cried out and was sent flying, though Zorua's attack rhythm was disrupted. At the same moment, Toxicroak and Skuntank had already returned to defend their master.
"Zorua, fall back!"
Peter recalled the fox, his gaze fixed on the distorted figure hovering midair.
An orange, pointed core wrapped in pale blue, lightning-like plasma—
A very special Pokémon.
[Rotom lv18 (Novice)]
Description:
A wild Rotom under Charon's research. It usually inhabits his mechanical arm. Highly intelligent, fluent in human language, and capable of integrating into various electronic devices to enable intelligent functionality.
"…Rotom?!"
Peter's face lit up with unmistakable excitement.
If there were a ranking of Pokémon most useful to Trainers, Rotom would be near the very top.
Why?
Because it could integrate with electronic devices, enabling true intelligent management.
Even better—Rotom didn't need food. As long as it had electricity, it could survive indefinitely.
And right now, standing before Peter was the perfect target.
A villain-aligned, wild, injured Rotom.
Peter grinned and pulled out his Pokegear Mate 60.
"Little Mate, Little Mate!"
"I'm here…"
"Simulate a dynamic spiral inward magnetic field—straight ahead!"
"Confirmed. Magnetic field simulation activated.
Friendly reminder: this action will consume a large amount of power.
With current battery levels, remaining operational time: 37,896 hours."
Wooooom—
With a faint hum, Rotom was forcibly dragged into the phone—vanishing instantly.
Peter immediately dropped the phone into a ceramic container and sealed it tightly.
Rotom relied on electrical currents to move.
And ceramic—
was one of the best insulators there was.
The bizarre scene left Charon completely dumbfounded.
"Y-you… what kind of phone is that?! It can do that?!"
Peter's lips curled upward.
"Don't ask. The answer is—technologically unrivaled."
"Damn it!" Charon roared. "You three—get over here and deal with him!"
"Yes, sir!"
The three grunts who were already close to Peter rushed him at once.
But—
Peter didn't even turn around.
He simply snapped his fingers.
"Laa!"
In the next instant, Slakoth burst out from the flower bushes. One punch smashed into the ground, launching it upward. Mid-air, it followed with Hammer Arm into Aerial Ace, striking all three grunts squarely on the head.
Thud—thud—thud.
All three collapsed.
With their Trainers down, their Pokémon were quickly tied up by the wild Pokémon. Only Charon's two Elite Pokémon remained, now subtly surrounded by Peter's and Mie's teams.
"WEE-OOO—WEE-OOO—"
Police sirens echoed from the distance.
Officer Jenny had finally arrived.
"Tch!" Charon clicked his tongue. "You got lucky this time, brat. I'll remember you. Just you wait!"
Mechanical components unfolded from his arm, transforming into a flight unit as he rose into the sky.
"Cough—cough… You seem to have misunderstood something."
Peter's voice rang out calmly.
"…What?" Charon froze mid-air.
Below, the young man slowly raised his head, wearing an innocent, harmless smile.
"I never said you could leave."
Before the words had fully faded—
Lopunny leapt into the air and hurled a baton shimmering with starlight toward Indeedee, who caught it perfectly.
HUM—
Six consecutive bursts of light flared—Attack, Special Attack, Defense, Special Defense, and Speed all rising together.
Standing atop Psychic Terrain, Indeedee lifted her gaze to the sky—mirroring Peter's posture.
The next moment—
A terrifying surge of psychic power erupted, so overwhelming that every human and Pokémon present felt their souls tremble.
The true counterattack…
had only just begun.
