Chapter 25: The Condition of Sacrifice and the Covenant of Shadows

The Mysterious Guest

Rina and her father looked in shock at the man, wondering why he had come there and how he knew their location. Rina's father held his staff firmly and asked, "Who are you? How did you know our place? How did you know we were here? What is your name?" The tall man slightly lifted his hat, revealing his bright, glowing eyes. The man replied, "It is not important who I am or what my name is. What matters is that I have come to treat Diari, not to explain who or what I am. Furthermore, Diari's treatment requires something much greater than that light; it requires a sacrifice. Can you do that?" Rina replied, "Yes, I can even give my own life! Just tell me what to do. Please, what should I do to save him?" The man said with a smile, "My daughter, this man is very lucky to have you. Truly, your heart is pure and your kindness is limitless. Well done, my girl."

Rina's Sacrifice for Diari's Life

Rina looked at Diari, whose breath was stopping. Crying, she said, "Diari, I will heal you. Just come back to yourself, be a little strong. The rest is on me, just be okay... come back to yourself, just a little, for my sake." Rina added, "I will do whatever it takes—my strength, my heart, my eyes, even my life. I won't let you die, Diari." The mythical person stepped toward Diari and placed his mythical staff on Diari's wound. The tall man said, "No, I don't want your life. You only have to extinguish that mark on your neck for a while. This means for a time, you will be like an ordinary human against Liva."

Rina's Difficult Decision

Rina's father said, "No, my daughter! This is a trap by Liva's mother. Don't do this! You shouldn't do such a thing; it will pull you right toward Liva's mother." Rina looked at Diari's wound, which was getting worse and worse; he was on the verge of death. Rina replied, "No, father. I would lay down my own life for him. I must keep my promise; we have to go home to Palla. Just as he saved my life, I will do the same for him."

The Healing of Diari's Wound

The unknown person began reading strange incantations. Suddenly, the mark on Rina's neck disappeared. Diari let out a cry full of pain, "Agh!" It was very painful. The black shadow came out of Diari's body and went into the unknown man's staff. Diari's color slowly returned to normal, but Rina felt that her strength was gone for a while. She fell to her knees, but she did not give up.

The End of the Chapter: The Departure of the Unknown Man

As the man was about to leave, Rina said in amazement, "Thank you so much. Can you introduce yourself to us?" The man replied with a smile, "No, I must go. My time was only this much." But as the man went to adjust his hat, there was a mark on his hand just like the mark on Rina's neck. Rina and her father looked at each other in total surprise. At that moment, Diari woke up and asked, "Rina... what is happening here?"
