Chapter 4 - It really really hurts

The second day in this unknown world dawned grey and cold. The skies were still heavy with stormclouds, and the air was thick.

Monaki and his science crew, the men from the principal's office, and a few volunteer students worked tirelessly in the lab. Sweat froze on their brows as they examined the damage to the teleportation device. The copper circuit was fried. Useless now.

They decided not to tell the others not yet. No need to spread more panic.

In the hall, students clustered in small groups, whispering, anxiously. Some scaveged for water. Others took turns distributing rations from the vending machines and storage.

Inside the hall, conversations danced between hope and fear.

"What if the dragon comes back?"

"How does one even teleport to another world?"

They were stranded. Ninety-eight people. No signal. No sun. Only snow, stretching endlessly in all directions.

SCIENCE LAB – NIGHT (DAY 3)

Three days had passed since the teleportation. The once-busy halls were quieter now. Monaki and his team worked tirelessly on the machine, but without copper, they were going nowhere. Hope was thinning out just like the food supply.

STORAGE ROOM – LATER

Shelves once stocked with emergency rations now held scraps. Students lined up quietly, their eyes sunken, their voices low.

People had begun to accept it: This was their new world.

Until the coughing started.

First, it was one student a girl, burning with fever, coughing violently into her blanket. They laid her in the infirmary bunk and tried to comfort her. But the next day, five more fell sick.

CLASSROOM – DAY 4

Thirty percent of the school students and teachers coughing, gasping for air, barely able to sit upright.

EXT. SCHOOL COURTYARD – NIGHT

Snow fell silently as Monaki stood alone, staring into the endless white, hands trembling, lips dry.

MONAKI (V.O.)

"What have I done? Why me" this really really hurts"

INFIRMARY – DAY 5

The principal collapsed mid-sentence. By now, over 80% were sick.

Then Taru collapsed Monaki's cousin and closest friend.

Monaki panicked, grabbing coats, water bottles, anything, running from room to room, desperate for a cure.

"the air is too thick and cold you feel it too I know, we can't survive here"

said Taru to monaki.

MONAKI: to all the 78 people in the infirmary

"The atmosphere… it's toxic. And poisonous and wrong for our lungs. The oxygen, the density… it's what's causing everyone to be sick"

Then a female voice asked "are we all going to die?"

MONAKI: no I swear it I'll do everything I can to save us all I promise you, your all going to live.

Then he soaked cloth masks in hot boiling water and covered thier nose. It helped barely. But the damage had begun.

DAY 6

Screams.

Two girls burst out of the bathroom, crying, shaking.

One of the girl clutched a blanket over her head.

STUDENT 1

"What is it?"

She slowly lowered the blanket.

Tiny, jagged horns poked from her forehead.

Gasps. Screams. People backed away.

MONAKI [to one of the girls]"Yuka, what is this? How is this even possible"

YUKA: [screams at the top of her voice with watery angry eyes] "how should I f***king know. Your supposed to be the scientist"

MONAKI stood astonished and couldn't utter a word.

Later that day there realized that there were beginning to mutate.

The sickness hadn't just weakened them — it was changing them.

Some students began to grow thick claws.

Another girl had a tail slim, bony, twitching under her blanket.

Others felt it too — their bodies twisting subtly. Skin toughening. Teeth sharpening.
