Maia slowly lifted her eyes from the screen back to the older brother as he took the phone away and handed it off to one of his boys again.
"That's your brother?" she echoed, eyeing him like he was filth personified. "No wonder the stench smelled familiar."
His face hardened instantly. "Do you even know who I am?" he asked, raising the retractable knife toward her.
Maia didn't so much as bat an eyelid. "Should I?" she replied impassively.
"I am the boss of the Cherry Fang gang," he declared, hitting his chest slightly.
Maia stared at him. "Huh?"
"I said," he repeated loudly. "I am the boss of CHERRY FANG gang?"
Oh, she'd heard him the first time. She'd just wanted to be certain her ears had heard correctly.
