"Andreas contacted me yesterday."
Xanthe's voice drifted through Lorenzo's quiet study. His fingers paused above his keyboard. Slowly, he lifted his gaze from the laptop to look at her since she walked in.
She was sitting across from him, fiddling with the miniature globe on his table with the fountain pen she'd taken from its holder minutes ago.
His favorite fountain pen.
"He offered me a job as his office assistant," she continued, her gaze locking on his.
"He did?"
She nodded. "Yeah."
"Out of nowhere?"
"Pretty much."
Lorenzo leaned back in his chair, his brows knitting together.
Something smelled fishy.
He knew Andreas too well. He knew how calculating he was. And he knew for a fact he rarely did anything without a reason.
"How did he get your contact information?" he asked finally.
"I gave it to him at your family's dinner," she answered casually.
