The eardrum-rupturing scream yanked Lorenzo from sleep. He sat straight abruptly, head darting from side to side.
"Xanthe, stop!" he yelped half-asleep. "Go to bed."
Struggling between dream and reality, he blinked his eyes that were still getting used to the brightness, and turned to the side of the bed only.
He found Xanthe sitting there, wearing a horrified expression across her face as she stared back at him.
Despite her disheveled golden hair, she somehow looked exceptionally pretty this morning. Maybe because he was still drowsy. Or maybe because the ray from the sun kissed her creamy skin in a way that knocked his breath out of his lungs.
Before he knew it, his gaze began to travel downward until he fell onto her bare chest and remained there.
Xanthe traced his gaze to her breast and let out a sharp gasp. She immediately yanked the duvet cover, pooling around her waist, up to her throat before launching a punch straight into his jaw.
