Arthur and Jenny stared at Barns for a few moments then questioned him,
"Do you really want us to go to Europe and find that doctor? Where even is he?"
"I don't know, Becky was only tasked with bringing the device to the airport, where an assistant of his was supposed to pick it up"
"Do you think he'll still be here?" Barns shook his head and showed them a message in his phone. It said that due to them not showing up, the assistant had to came back home with his hands empty and he's not planning to send them back.
"He then said that he does not plan on making business with uneducated people and blocked me"
Arthur raised an eyebrow "That's weird. Isn't this device unique on the world? Anyone I know would trade their soul for it, hell, even I would like to have it"
"I agree with you, but well, I guess when you are already the best doctor in the world, what more could you want?"
"Right. I still think there must be another hidden reason, it's just so abrupt"
Barns got up and started picking up the plates empty of food "For now, you both can go, I'll think about what we can do. Also, you must be pretty tired after all that, so just go home and get a good rest"
"Alright then, take care Barns. You too, Becky" They got up and left the house, it was late night and there wasn't a single soul around. Except for the thieves lurking in the corners, waiting for their next prey.
"I'll accompany you to your house, it's dangerous right now"
"That would be greatly appreciated, if I had a house, that's it"
"What do you mean?" Arthur tilted his head "My house was just above the bar, so it's completely destroyed now"
Arthur shrugged "Then you should stay at Barns's house tonight"
"Becky just came back from that, I don't want to butt in" Arthur pondered and took a cigarrete out, lighting it up.
"Fine then, you can stay at my house" He put the cigarrete on his mouth "It's no five stars hotel, though"
"That's fine for me, as long as it has a roof, I've sleeped in far worse places"
"Fine then" He started walking "Just be wary of the spiders, sometimes they get on your ears when you're sleeping" Jenny was now horrified "Say what?" Arthur exhaled some smoke.
"I'm kidding, there are no spiders yet, just a bunch of cockroches" Jenny felt shivers running down her spine.
"You aren't really making it better" They began walking together until they arrived at Arthur's home. It was an apartment in an old building, that did not seem in very well condition.
"Weren't you a superhero? Surely you had money for something better like this"
"I did, but now I'm broke, I can't even afford bullets for my gun. I wasted the last ones on those guys at your bar" Arthur sighed and opened the door to his apartment. The interior was the same as the exterior, rusty, old and looking like it'll fall down at any moment.
"I mean... it's certainly not a mansion, but it has this kinda cozy feeling to it, you know?" Jenny sat on the ragged couch and evaluated the apartment once more.
Arthur shook his head and and let out a yawn "Whatever, you can sleep on the couch"
"Whoa, are you letting a lady sleep on the couch? You are supposed to lend me the bed, is that not how this usually goes?"
Arthur scoffed "First of all, I don't see this 'lady' you're talking about anywhere. Second, there's no bed in this house, I usually sleep on the couch"
"What? That's so bad for your back..."
"Yeah, and it's going to get even worse now" Arthur laid back on the floor with a pillow he took out of a closet "Good night"
With that, he closed his eyes and shortly after, he fell asleep.
"How can he even sleep like that?" Jenny stared at his sleeping face for a few moments and pondered "He's usually so serious, seeing him like this almost makes me think he is not a cold blooded murderer"
She fell asleep too some minutes after that.

Jenny woke up with a sharp pain on her back, the very uncomfortable couch being the main suspect. She looked down to see if Arthur was there, but he wasn't.
She got up and stretched "Wonder if there's a shower somewhere around here..." She entered one of the other two rooms that were in the apartment, the one she entered seemed to be the bedroom, though it lacked the main element, that being the bed.
The other room actually had a shower, which she did not expect at all, considering the very obvious lack of other furniture.
"I guess he does take his hygiene seriously" She was about to start preparing to enter the shower when she noticed something on the wall of the shower, she got closer to it and realized that there was a hollow noise inside the wall, meaning there was something behind it.
She tried opening it by pushing it and thought of how to open it.
"Maybe this'll work" She extended her hand towards the temperature's controls of the shower, but was stopped by another hand grabbing her wrist.
"What are you doing?" Arthur looked at her, his eyes were even colder and lifeless than usual. He had entered the apartment without making a sound and sneaked up on her.
"I was just planning to take a shower when I noticed that this wall is hollow, so I wanted to check it out" Arthur's eyes grew less cold and he let her wrist go.
"Can I ask what's in there?" Jenny asked cautiously.
"Memories of the past. Now let's go, Barns contacted me a few hours ago, it seems like he got us a fly. We're going to Europe"
Jenny smirked and shrugged ironically "Sure, what could possibly go wrong?"
