After hours of meticulous discussion, Ren finally left with Lucas.
They had gone through almost every detail—deployment zones, public communication strategy, law enforcement structure, technological rollout. The first large-scale arrival of Pokémon had to be handled with surgical precision. One mistake, and panic would spread faster than any Charizard's Flamethrower.
But the clock had marched past ten.
Even revolutions need sleep.
At half past ten, they stood at the villa entrance.
"No need to see us off, Secretary Ruan," Ren said politely.
"Drive carefully," Ruan Jianrong replied automatically.
Then he paused.
The person he had just warned about traffic safety… was technically not from Earth.
Ren smiled faintly and stepped into the car. Lucas started the engine, and the vehicle disappeared into the night.
Ruan Jianrong stood still for a moment.
"Pokémon…"
He looked down at the thick manual Ren had left behind.
Poké Balls. Spatial backpacks. Transfer systems. Healing machines.
The technological descriptions alone were enough to make research institutes lose sleep for years.
Yet here they were.
Aliens existed.
Magical creatures existed.
At that point, a little "black technology" felt almost reasonable.
"Are you two done spying?"
He spoke without turning around.
From behind the hallway wall, two heads slowly popped out.
Ava and Liam.
"Hehe… Dad, are the guests gone?"
Ava grinned awkwardly.
Liam stood slightly behind her, looking guilty in advance.
"They're gone. Good timing. I also have something to ask you."
Ruan Jianrong's tone sharpened instantly.
"You two secretly bought Pokémon, didn't you?"
The siblings froze.
"How did you know?!" Liam blurted out.
Ava closed her eyes in despair.
Betrayed. By her own teammate.
"The shop owner already told me," Ruan Jianrong said calmly.
Ava attempted a weak smile.
"Dad doesn't blame you," he added. "Let me see them."
The two obediently took out their Poké Balls.
With a flash—
Bulbasaur and Elekid appeared.
"Bulba?"
"Beeep…"
Bulbasaur tilted its head adorably.
Elekid yawned and looked half asleep.
Ruan Jianrong stared at them in silence.
Then realization struck.
"So this is the 'toad' you insisted on raising?"
He pointed at Bulbasaur.
Ava's face flushed.
"It's not a toad! It's Bulbasaur! Isn't it cute?"
Ruan Jianrong observed carefully.
"It's more like a frog. Round face. Bud on its back."
He nodded with authority.
"Definitely not a toad."
Bulbasaur blinked innocently.
Ruan Jianrong reached out and scratched under its chin.
Bulbasaur's eyes curved happily.
"Bulba~"
Without hesitation, he picked it up and hugged it.
Ava: "…That's mine."
Ignored.
He turned toward Elekid.
"And this one?"
"It's Elekid. Electric-type," Liam explained.
Ruan Jianrong smirked slightly.
"No wonder the house voltage fluctuated two days ago."
Liam scratched his head awkwardly.
Then Ruan Jianrong frowned.
"The owner said you bought two each. Where's the other one?"
Silence.
Ava coughed softly.
"You told Liam to throw it into the backyard pond."
Ruan Jianrong froze.
Ah.
That increasingly oversized red carp.
"…The pond is large," he said calmly after a moment. "Suitable habitat."
Ava stared at him.
Master of rationalization.
"So you're allowing us to raise Pokémon?" she asked cautiously.
Ruan Jianrong was quiet for several seconds.
"Pokémon will become mainstream."
"It's not a bad thing that you're ahead of the curve."
He meant it.
He had asked Ren one final question before the departure:
How strong could Pokémon truly become?
The answer still echoed in his mind.
"A top champion-level trainer could destroy a city with their team. It would not be particularly difficult."
Destroy a city.
One person.
That kind of power would redefine military doctrine, diplomacy, global hierarchy.
And he had seen with his own eyes—juvenile Pokémon defeating an adult tiger with ease.
What about their final evolutions?
This wasn't fantasy.
This was the next era.
"Dad, you're the best!" Ava threw her arms around his neck.
"Enough, enough. Don't act spoiled," he scolded, though his smile betrayed him.
Then—
A syrupy voice drifted in again.
"Daaad~"
Ruan Jianrong's face immediately hardened.
"Speak properly."
"Can you transfer me sixty million? I want to draw a Legendary Pokémon."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
"Get out."
Ava pouted dramatically.
Then her eyes widened.
"Wait—my Bulbasaur—"
"Dad will borrow it for one night."
"No problem," she said weakly.
Ruan Jianrong carried Bulbasaur upstairs like a victorious warlord claiming tribute.
Ava stood in the living room, watching her precious frog disappear behind the bedroom door.
This household had changed.
Power structures were shifting.
And not just geopolitically.
Upstairs, Bulbasaur settled comfortably in Ruan Jianrong's arms.
Outside, beyond city lights and quiet neighborhoods—
The world stood on the brink of an ecological and civilizational mutation.
Fruit trees would be planted.
Wild zones would awaken.
And soon—
Humanity would discover that evolution was not just a biological process.
It was a policy decision.
