Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – End of the World

In 2046, nuclear contamination erupted across the globe. The apocalypse officially arrived, and the world's population was instantly reduced by four-fifths.

I survived typhoons and tsunamis, survived extreme cold and earthquakes, and even stayed alive under nuclear radiation.

I struggled through the apocalypse for a full three years.

I never imagined that in the end, I would be pushed by a scumbag man into a nuclear-contaminated reactor pool, forced to watch helplessly as my flesh and blood melted like wax under intense radiation, dying in unbearable pain!

When I opened my eyes again, I was reborn!

Reborn half a month before the apocalypse arrived. I hadn't married that scumbag yet, and everything could begin again!

"Nation R's nuclear wastewater… radiation… a large number of marine organisms have already died from nuclear contamination…"

The comment section under the trending topic was filled with curses, with visible anxiety and agitation between the lines.

Jiang Mi stared at the news on her phone expressionlessly.

She had been reborn half a month before the apocalypse. Her father had not yet sacrificed himself to help everyone find food; her mother had not yet been dragged away and devoured by contaminated mutant creatures while protecting her; and most importantly, she had not yet married Xue Wenxuan—that utterly disgusting piece of trash!

Thinking of how she had once been so obsessed with Xue Wenxuan—as if she had been put under a spell—believing him immediately whenever he coaxed her a little, no matter how angry she was, felt utterly unbelievable now.

She hadn't even noticed that he and her cousin had long been secretly involved, working together in disgrace while coveting her dimensional space.

They practically all lived together, yet in hindsight, the two had been openly exchanging flirtatious looks right in front of her. Even her brother had tried to warn her, but it was as if her brain had been contaminated by apocalyptic nuclear radiation—she simply refused to believe it.

If not for her stupidity, how could she have been viciously schemed against by those two, ultimately having her flesh and bones corroded away, dying without leaving even a trace behind?

Jiang Mi raised her hand to wipe the tears from her face, took a deep breath, and opened her eyes again. A sharp, icy light flashed in them.

Since heaven had arranged her rebirth, then grudges would be repaid with grudges, and hatred with hatred!

She wanted to see exactly what kind of tricks Xue Wenxuan really had!

Thinking of this, Jiang Mi's gaze flickered. She hurriedly lowered her head and touched her neck. Only when she felt the droplet-shaped pendant did her heart finally settle.

Without the slightest hesitation, Jiang Mi used a fruit knife to cut open her palm. She then clenched the pendant tightly, feeling a powerful suction come from it. Blood gushed from the wound in her palm, waves of cold spreading through her body until even her head grew dizzy—only then did the suction stop.

She bit the tip of her tongue to keep herself conscious. Then, focusing her mind, her vision blurred, and in the next instant she was standing in a vast open plain.

As far as the eye could see were endless stretches of green grass. The boundless wilderness made one instinctively take a deep breath, the crisp, cool air seeping into the lungs and bringing an overwhelming sense of comfort.

This was the space inside the pendant.

She had explored it before: the area covered several thousand hectares, with some wild beasts she had never seen before. Beneath the dense grass lay moist, black soil.

Not far away was a massive lake with clear, sweet water, rich in aquatic resources. This place would be her greatest source of confidence when facing the apocalypse!

Jiang Mi suppressed her pounding heartbeat, her eyes burning with fervor.

She would no longer let her father die coughing up blood just for a bit of food; she would no longer let her mother be dragged away by contaminated mutant creatures while protecting her; nor would she allow her brother to break his pride just to keep everyone alive.

Exiting the space, Jiang Mi put the pendant back around her neck. Just as she was about to pick up her phone to make a call, an incoming call interrupted her plan.

Looking at the caller ID displaying the word "Baby," Jiang Mi froze for a moment. After thinking carefully, she remembered—it was the contact name she had once set for Xue Wenxuan.

Back then, she had been deeply infatuated with him, seeing only him in her eyes. Anyone who dared say a bad word about him would be scolded by her as tasteless trash.

Now, seeing that contact name again, Jiang Mi could only think:

"The clown was me all along."

After cursing under her breath, she immediately blocked the number.

With Xue Wenxuan no longer interfering, Jiang Mi opened her contact list and began making calls one by one.

"Brother Li, prepare ten thousand doses of antibiotics—cold medicine, fever reducers, painkillers… Yes, I'll send you the address later."

"Brother Zhao Lei, I have an urgent order here—one hundred tons each of rice, flour, and cooking oil, plus instant noodles and other ready-to-eat foods…"

"Uncle Wang, it's like this—protective suits, thermal clothing…"

After making more than a dozen calls in just ten minutes, she spent over five million.

All of these items would become scarce resources in the apocalypse. After nuclear wastewater invaded the land along with tsunamis, the vast majority of land-based supplies would be contaminated and no longer edible. Forcing consumption would result in bodily contamination—at best, death; at worst, mutation into utterly disgusting polluted monsters.

With supplies arranged, the next issue was housing. She needed a place that could withstand the first wave of typhoons and the second wave of tsunamis when the apocalypse arrived.

An image of a building that had remained standing through the typhoons and tsunamis in her previous life surfaced in her mind. Without hesitation, Jiang Mi drove straight to Moon Bay Apartments.

Moon Bay Apartments had been built in recent years. Though located along the coast, it backed up against a mountain that wasn't very tall. With a pleasant environment, it had gained some reputation, though few people bought apartments there. She had chosen this place because she once wanted to live a "springtime by the sea" life with Xue Wenxuan.

The entire building had 33 floors. Her apartment was on the 26th floor, in the upper-middle section of the building. From there, she could overlook the surrounding environment and observe the distant coastline. With the mountain acting as a buffer, it now seemed like an excellent first shelter.

As the elevator chimed upon reaching the 26th floor, Jiang Mi stepped out while pulling her phone from her bag. After just a few steps, she suddenly felt as if she had crashed into a massive rock. Half her body ached, and she lost control, tilting backward.

"Careful."

A dry, hoarse voice sounded. A strong, powerful hand firmly grabbed her arm, helping her steady herself, then immediately released her once she regained balance.

Jiang Mi was startled. She hadn't sensed anyone approaching at all!

"Sorry," she said coldly as she raised her head to examine him.

Only then did she notice that the man's appearance was somewhat strange.

He was very tall, wearing a black hoodie with the hood covering most of his face, a black mask, and black sweatpants. His build was solid and robust—he really didn't look like a good person.

"Heh. So that's why you didn't answer my calls. You've got someone else outside, huh?"

The familiar voice dripping with sarcasm made Jiang Mi feel an instinctive wave of nausea. She turned to look and saw Xue Wenxuan standing in front of the apartment she had bought.

He was wearing a custom-made suit, his collar open, with earrings and a silver necklace, looking like a fashionable playboy. Leaning against the corridor window, a cigarette between his fingers, he looked at her with mocking disdain.
