Mireva did not decide who received the six beds quickly.
By the time Martin returned to the Sunken Belfry, she had spoken privately with every family asking about Forest Hidden. Nobody had been brought into a public meeting to argue over whose fear or injuries deserved a bed more. Need mattered. Willingness mattered. So did whether someone could leave without weakening the Belfry's immediate defenses.
The mother and her two children received three places. The elderly pair received two. The final bed went to one of the siblings who maintained residential routes, while her brother chose to remain behind. Two people were left waiting, and Forest Hidden's thirty-six places were full.
Martin arrived while the last six were still preparing to leave.
