Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: The First Move

**[Seoul National University – Morning]**

The campus buzzed with life.

Laughter. Conversations. Movement.

And then—

everything slowed.

A sleek black car stopped at the main gate.

The door opened.

Kim Aeri stepped out.

Elegant. Untouchable.

Every step precise, her heels clicking softly against the pavement.

Eyes followed her.

Always did.

"The Kim family's princess…"

"Isn't she too perfect?"

Aeri didn't react.

Didn't even look.

Because she was used to it.

"Wait here," she said calmly.

Her guards stopped instantly.

Alone, she walked forward.

Graceful.

Controlled.

Perfect.

On the other side—

A boy moved through the crowd.

Messy hair.

Simple clothes.

A pizza box balanced casually in his hand.

Invisible.

Or at least—

he should have been.

His eyes lifted—

and locked onto her.

A beat.

A target.

BAM!

The collision was sudden.

The pizza box slipped—

thick red sauce splattering across Aeri's pristine outfit.

Silence.

For one second—

the entire world froze.

"Are you blind?!"

Her voice cut through the air.

Sharp.

Controlled.

But dangerous.

The sweet mask—

cracked.

"I-I'm so sorry!" the boy stammered, stepping back, panic written all over his face.

A perfect act.

As he bent down—

his hand brushed lightly against her bag.

The zipper—already slightly open.

A small black pendrive slipped out—

And dropped straight into the nearby fountain.

Splash.

Aeri's breath hitched.

"My pendrive—!"

For the first time—

real fear flickered in her eyes.

Not anger.

Not irritation.

Fear.

Because that wasn't just a device.

It was everything.

"Oh no! I'll get it!" he said quickly, rushing toward the fountain.

But the moment his face turned away—

his expression changed.

Cold.

Sharp.

Calculating.

A faint, invisible smirk touched his lips.

This wasn't an accident.

It never was.

**[Swimming Pool – Moments Later]**

The door slammed shut.

Locked.

Silence fell.

Heavy.

Cold.

Dangerous.

Before he could react—

Aeri grabbed his collar and dragged him forward.

Hard.

"What do you think you've done?" her voice dropped—low, controlled… terrifying.

"Do you even realize what you just destroyed?"

"I said I'm sorry—"

SPLASH!

His head was shoved underwater.

The surface rippled violently.

Above—

Aeri stood still.

Unmoved.

Unbothered.

Below—

everything went quiet.

His eyes opened slowly.

Calm.

Steady.

Aeri…

You've really changed…

He didn't struggle.

Didn't resist.

A faint smile almost formed—

before it disappeared.

Suddenly—

she yanked him back up.

Water dripped from his hair.

His shirt clung to his body—

revealing a frame that didn't belong to an ordinary student.

For a split second—

Aeri froze.

Something felt… wrong.

But before the thought could settle—

his expression broke.

Tears filled his eyes.

"I'm really sorry…" he whispered weakly.

The helpless puppy—

returned.

Perfect.

Convincing.

Aeri's gaze hardened.

"Fix it."

"Or I'll make sure you regret ever touching it."

Her voice was ice.

"My project. You'll complete it."

No room for refusal.

No second chances.

Without another word—

she turned and walked away.

The door slammed behind her.

Silence.

Then—

Kang straightened.

Slowly.

Calmly.

The tears were gone.

So was the innocence.

"…A pendrive," he murmured.

"Not just data."

His gaze shifted toward the door she had exited.

A faint smirk appeared.

"Interesting…"

He ran a hand through his wet hair.

His eyes darkened.

Sharp.

Focused.

"So… you're the Diamond Queen."

A pause.

A whisper.

"Aeri…"

"If it's really you—"

His smile deepened.

"Then this isn't a coincidence."

A beat.

"The game has already begun."

**[Kim Mansion – Later]**

Laughter filled the grand dining hall.

Seven brothers.

Six sisters-in-law.

A warm, loving family.

At the center—

Aeri sat quietly.

Perfect. Gentle. Innocent.

"Our Aeri is so delicate," one of them said fondly.

Aeri smiled softly.

"Of course," she replied sweetly.

But beneath the table—

her fingers moved swiftly across her phone.

Numbers.

Contracts.

A multi-million deal—

finalized in seconds.

Her expression didn't change.

Didn't falter.

Two worlds.

One face.

To them—

she was a princess.

To the world—

something far more dangerous.

**[Hours Earlier – Incheon Private Terminal]**

Hours earlier—

while the game had already begun in Seoul…

A private jet touched down.

The moment the door opened—

the air shifted.

Jeon Kang stepped out.

Black suit.

Perfect posture.

Every step calm.

Controlled.

Authority—effortless.

To the world—

he was known as the Silent Tycoon.

Untouchable.

Unreachable.

Unreal.

But right now—

his gaze was fixed on one place.

Seoul.

His fingers moved instinctively—

touching the chain hidden beneath his shirt.

A silver ring rested against his heartbeat.

A faint smile curved his lips.

"I'm back, Aeri…"

His voice was barely a whisper.

But his eyes—

were no longer soft.

A sharp, dangerous glint flickered within them.

"This time…"

He exhaled slowly.

"I'm not leaving empty-handed."

**[Night – Aeri's Balcony]**

The city lights stretched endlessly below.

Aeri stood still.

Silent.

A glass of wine in her hand.

Her fingers brushed against the old key chain.

For a moment—

her expression softened.

"You said you'd come back…"

A whisper.

Almost lost in the wind.

"But you never did."

Her eyes darkened.

A memory flickered—

a boy.

a promise.

a key.

And then—

Her phone screen flickered.

Glitched.

Once.

Twice.

Then—

a message appeared.

"DO YOU REMEMBER THE KEY?"

Aeri's breath hitched.

For the first time—

she didn't move.

Didn't think.

Didn't speak.

Somewhere—

hidden in the shadows of the city—

a silent smile formed.

The King had made his first move.

And this time—

the game wouldn't forgive.
