Back on earth, Veronica was sitted on her desk, all sorts of text books that contained all manners of techniques and abilities were wide open on her table. In the process, her eyes glowed pink, this was because she was watching Runo lose herself as her artifact fused with her arm and started taking over her body. Veronica muttered "Not good. This is really bad for her. If she keeps going like this, she's going to die.", Veronica was tensed up before laying her back on her chair. The female lord of the City of Kagahara at present day, the only female Lord so far, was very tensed. Veronica hadn't been this tense in a long time, even when she fought Ukina back at the war three years ago, she didn't feel this sense of cold and unease. Veronica continued to mutter to herself "Normally, a weapon can't fuse with its user without the risk of death, it's common knowledge when you take time to understand how weapons work.", she continued to think "There are two kinds of weapons that exist, the first kind of weapons were known as artifacts. They were weapons that were created with the combination of energy and natural materials like steel, wooden and other things. About a few hundred years ago, the use of artifacts were the technology of then. People either depended on their own abilities, or the use of artifacts. The second kind of weapons we have are the modern day weapons we use, they are known as mechanical weapons.". Veronica crossed her legs "These mechanical weapons are solely powered with the use of energy and technology, meaning unlike three hundred years ago where people depended on energy and their knowledge of the environment to create artifacts, we soldiers nowadays depend more on technology and the use of energy. There practically isn't any difference.". Veronica sighed "What a pain, the world really has gone through a lot.", a deadpan expression opened up on her face "But then again, people still use artifacts till this day for their missions and day to day life, only that it's not just as popular.", Veronica wondered to herself "I should probably help her, if Runo fuses with that trytont of hers, she's going to be nothing but pure power and then die due to the energy from that thing overriding her.". Veronica scoffed "And then there's the matter of that [ORB OF THE WORLD] artifact. I wanted to take it because I found its power very useful. Not just that, but that Halovel thing was going to appear in a matter of a few hundred years just to use it as a means to destroy the earth. And by that time, there won't be people strong enough to handle her. Even if she were to come to earth a couple decades ago or a few hundred years back, only a small number of people would be able to kill her.". Veronica's eyes glanced towards her right, looking at all the picture frames of the Lords that had led the city before her, her eyes stopped at the picture of a man who had long brown hair and wore a black suit. The person in that photo was Lord Fugaku, a man who had protected the city for a long time, he had also made an appearance at Kagahara a few years ago to give Alex the sad news of Ranpo's passing. Veronica actually knew him on a personal level, he was someone she looked up to as well, the only regret she had of him was that she couldn't just go looking for him uninvited. Veronica faced forward and sighed "It's about damn time I went to save her.". Meanwhile, white blasts of energy consumed the planet where Runo had gone to fight Halovel. Most ot the planet was practically ashes, it was a mystery how it wasn't destroyed yet. The planet was probably many times more durable and stronger than earth by far. For it to have survived a full powered energy bomb from a rampaging Runo, who's body was flaring out with uncontrollably amounts of white energy? It was unbelievably strong. Runo on the other hand was hugging herself in pain as her powers surged out of her body, the right side of her body had almost turned into energy, like it was ready to detenate. Runo was shaking in pain as the power from her weapon spread accross her, she gritted her teeth and thought "It's fusing with me completely, this isn't supposed to happen! Is it because I was on the verge of death and unknowingly used it to a level where it shouldn't have been? No! It doesn't matter...", she looked at the right side of her body "If I don't stop this now, I'll turn into an energy bomb and go off.". Runo remember seeing Deo(14 years old), layed on a bed with his body red in colour, this was after the event of saving Alex who had been kidnapped at the time. The doctor explained "His nanotechnology had merged with his body, if we the medical team didn't do something fast, he would have been dead right now.". Runo was crying on the bed beside Deo at the time, the reason why Deo hadn't died when his nanotechnology watch had fused into his system was that he had high compatibility with it, that and the fact that he unconsciously tried to slow the dangerous effects of his watch joining itself with him and slowly killing him. Currently, Runo quivered in pain "After that day, I did some research on Deo because of the relief I felt from him not dying after his mission to save Alex. It turns out that he was the second son of a powerful man who created insane technology for Kagahara, as well as being able to turn his body into technology, it only makes sense if he survived his body being changed almost into a robot due to genetics. But as for me, I don't have anything like that in my bloodline.". Runo continued to think as her body slowly and painfully turned into white energy, still struggling to keep her human shape "My dad, Fred Armstrong, was a very skilled weapons master. He basically taught me everything I had to know when it came down to hand to hand combat. As for my mom, she was also extremely impressive with weapons too. She came from a very strong family that prided themselves with the kind of skills and powers they had, I've met a number of them so I known that for myself. It has nothing to do with me being able to fuse with a weapon without caution or giving me some busted genetics that would save my life when things go horribly wrong.". As Runo's body had almost gotten completely taken over, a tear came down from her eyes, she started thinking of her parents, Gwen and Fred, two of the people she loved the most in the world. Along side that, she also started to think of Deo, her husband, and even Mori. She muttered "Mom. Dad. Mori.....", all of a sudden, she remembered Deo's encouraging smirk with a thumbs up back when they were still young C-ranks "You going on a solo mission? No worries, you've got this.". Runo cried softly "Deo... Help me.". In a single instant, a pink blast of energy had flown from a distant star system and stabbed Runo, immediately cancelling out her complete energification and turning her back to normal. She coughed out blood "Huh...?". As she was about to drop to the ground, Veronica grabbed her in tight and huged her "There, that's enough. You've fought hard enough, you should rest.". Runo weakly muttered with a tired and very sad expression "Veronicaaaa.". Her voice slowly and softly wailed before she went unconscious.
