It wasn't an escape…
It was a calculated retreat.
And when the dimensional rift opened before Lord Zebra, Lloyd didn't hesitate to follow. He didn't ask questions, didn't consult, didn't wait for advice. He knew that this moment, with all its danger, was the end of the path he had walked since he was called Kaiutsu.
He paused for only a moment at the edge of the gate, where energy shattered like shards of glass suspended in mid-air. Behind him stood the Guardian, watching in profound silence, while Shira tried to read Lloyd's features, as if she wanted to memorize them before he entered the unknown.
"I won't let him disappear again," Lloyd said without turning around.
"Then go," the Guardian replied in a calm voice, devoid of warning this time. "This is the battle you were born to fight."
Lloyd took a step forward… and vanished.
The World of Ashes
His body landed on a dust-covered, black earth.
The sky was gray, heavy, with neither sun nor clear shadows, as if the world were trapped in an ancient, unfinished moment of burning.
Everything here bore the mark of Zebra's passage.
The mountains were cracked.
The air was unnaturally still.
Even the silence seemed to be the result of a shock.
Lloyd bent down slightly, touched the ground, and said,
"Even in his escape… he leaves devastation in his wake."
He rose and unleashed his energy to forge another path between worlds. He wasn't seeking a random battle… he was following a single trail.
Zebra's trail.
The World of Infinite Waters
This time, Lloyd emerged standing on the surface of a still, endless water.
There were no waves, no wind, only a perfect reflection of the sky, so that it was impossible to distinguish above from below.
And there… was Zebra.
Standing. Still. Waiting.
Without turning around, he said,
"I knew you'd follow me."
"This chase is over," Lloyd replied steadily.
Zebra turned slowly, his eyes unwavering.
"No… we're just getting started."
Space trembled, and another passage opened.
Crossing Worlds
The journey was no longer a chase…
It was a test of will.
They passed through a world where time slowed down until movement became a burden.
And a world of darkness where nothing could be seen, but every pulse of energy was heard as a sound.
And a shattered world, half-contained, the other half crumbling like a fading memory.
In each world, Zebra tried to wear Lloyd down, to draw him into a fight before he reached the end.
But Lloyd wouldn't be drawn in.
He no longer fought with a reaction.
With silent determination.
The Final World
Zebra finally stopped in a white void.
No land… no sky…
Just boundless space, without laws, without influence on any other world.
A place created to be the end.
"Here… nothing will be shattered by us," Zebra said. "No worlds, no balance."
Then he looked directly at Lloyd.
"Here we will end it all."
The Fight
They didn't explode with energy immediately.
They drew closer.
Step for step.
The silence between them was heavier than any attack.
Then…
The two forces clashed.
The fight wasn't as loud as the previous battles, but deep, focused.
Every strike was calculated.
Every movement had meaning.
"Force is meant to be ruled… not protected," Zebra said, charging forward with a sharp attack.
Lloyd blocked the attack, replying, "And that's why… you will never win."
They traded blows, energy shattering around them like a soundless flash.
Not only was one of them physically stronger… but they were fighting with two different philosophies.
Zebra fought to dominate.
Lloyd fought to end that dominance.
The Moment of Transformation
Zebra unleashed all his power at once.
An immense pressure filled the white void, as if it wanted to crush everything in an instant.
But Lloyd…
He didn't react violently.
He closed his eyes.
His energy calmed instead of exploding.
It gathered. It became controlled. It lay still like a deep lake.
He said quietly,
"Uncontrolled power… destroys its owner."
He reached out.
Zebra's attack vanished.
Zebra took a step back… for the first time.
"What have you done?"
Lloyd opened his eyes.
"I ended the struggle… inside me first."
The End
There was no loud, fatal blow.
Lloyd advanced slowly… until he was right in front of him.
He placed a hand on his chest.
Zebra's energy began to dissipate, not exploding, not resisting… it was erased, as if it had never existed.
Zebra stared at him for a long time.
Then, in a low voice, he said,
"So… you chose to be the opposite of what I was."
Lloyd replied,
"I chose to stop you."
Zebra vanished.
His existence ended.
After the Battle
Lloyd returned through the final passage.
The worlds that had cracked began to settle.
The vibrations disappeared.
The void returned to normal.
He found the Guardian, Riorno, and Shira waiting for him.
No one asked him: Did you win?
The answer was evident in the calm that returned with his arrival.
The Guardian said,
"The road is over."
Lloyd gazed at the horizon, then said,
"No… the road isn't over."
"It's just beginning."
And so Lord Zebra's war ended…
Not with a great explosion,
but with a single decision.
The decision to use force… to protect the worlds, not to rule them.
