Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Draz VS Alquimme

The triumphant fanfare echoing from the grand stadium announcers gradually softened as the sky above the planet Anipla shifted from brilliant gold to deep twilight. Day 2 of the grand tournament had officially drawn to a close. Thousands of spectators began pouring out of the colossal stands, their voices merging into a continuous roar of excitement as they debated the day's fierce clashes. Throughout the high-tech corridors of the arena complex, tired but victorious fighters, along with those nursing defeated pride, made their way toward the transport docks to return to their respective quarters.

Among the crowd, the five sons of The Great Mufasa—Lam, Krodh, Bayu, Draz, and Asad—walked side by side through the main exit concourse. Each brother carried the lingering energy of the day's events in his own distinct way. Bayu still wore a faint, dissatisfied frown after his clean yet uncomfortable victory against Athelli. Krodh walked in silent, cold efficiency, his arms folded across his chest. Draz was casually scrolling through his phone, reviewing recording highlights of other bracket matches while tossing a small energy core up and down in his free hand. Asad walked with quiet, calm dignity, while Lam led the group with an aura of effortless authority, his hands tucked loosely in his pockets.

Far beyond the atmosphere of Anipla, high above in the silent reaches of space, the cosmic Red Star Colex-5411025 continued its endless, burning cycles at an unfathomable 54,110,025 degrees Celsius. Resting upon the roaring surface of stellar plasma, the Five-Armed Man slowly stood up. His five eyes shimmered with ancient, celestial power as he looked down at his right middle hand. Resting within his palm was his dark, crystalline Red Orb.

With a subtle flex of his cosmic strength, the Five-Armed Man channeled his energy into the artifact. The Red Orb flared with an intense crimson light, casting brilliant red rays across the stellar fire. Space itself warped and cracked in front of him, tearing open a massive, swirling Red Portal that hummed with immense spatial distortion. Gathering his five-headed red trident, his ten-orb red drum, and his twin Plunger Cameraman spiked plungers, the Five-Armed Man stepped smoothly into the crimson rift. The portal snapped shut behind him, leaving Colex-5411025 burning silently in the void as he departed for another corner of the universe.

Back on Anipla, the five sons of Mufasa arrived at their family's estate. The grand residence stood as a majestic monument of ancient power and modern elegance, surrounded by high walls of reinforced obsidian and lit by floating lanterns of soft, white Urja fire. The heavy double doors parted automatically as the brothers stepped over the threshold, entering the warm, peaceful interior of their home.

Standing in the main foyer to greet them was their mother, Khamata. Her presence was gentle yet commanding, her face softening into a warm, maternal smile as she saw her five boys return safely.

"Welcome back, my sons," Mother Khamata said, her melodic voice washing away the tension of the arena. "I monitored the tournament broadcasts today. You all fought with great strength. Now, go wash up and come to the dining room—dinner is ready."

"Yes, Mother," the brothers answered in unison, their combat fatigue yielding to the inviting aroma of home-cooked food wafting through the halls.

A short while later, the brothers gathered in the family's central dinner room. The chamber was nothing short of majestic and royal. Arching vaulted ceilings adorned with glowing cosmic crystals cast a warm, golden illumination down upon a grand dining table carved from a single slab of polished dark marble. Gold-threaded tapestries depicting legendary battles hung along the walls, while soft silk cushions lined the high-backed ornate chairs.

Plates of high-grade cosmic beast meat, savory roasted tubers, and crystal pitchers filled with chilled, energy-rich fruit nectar covered the table. At the head of the table sat The Great Mufasa himself. His imposing figure, radiating an underlying aura of absolute strength, settled comfortably into the grand chair. His sharp, knowing eyes scanned his five sons as they took their seats.

Servants poured fresh juice into polished goblets as the family began their meal. The atmosphere was filled with the pleasant clatter of cutlery and light banter among the brothers. Draz was busy devouring a massive portion of grilled meat, while Bayu quietly sipped his juice.

Lam, sitting near the center of the table, leaned back slightly against his seat after taking a drink. He turned his gaze toward his father, resting his forearm casually against the carved marble armrest.

"Father," Lam began, his tone respectful yet conversational. "Out of all the matches that took place throughout Day 2... whose fight was the best in your eyes?"

The dining room quieted down slightly as the other four brothers paused, curious to hear their father's assessment. Mufasa set his golden goblet down on the table, his deep, resonant voice filling the royal hall with an unmistakable weight.

"Every match today served its purpose," Mufasa said slowly, his sharp eyes lingering over each of his sons before settling on one figure in particular. "Krodh demonstrated absolute dominance without waste. Bayu showed superior elemental mastery, even if his heart hesitated. But if we speak of pure execution, martial rhythm, and absolute tactical clarity..."

Mufasa offered a rare, approving nod toward the side of the table. "...Asad's fight was the best."

Asad, sitting quietly beside Bayu, paused with his glass halfway to his lips. A faint, proud smile touched his face as he gave a respectful bow of his head toward his father. "Thank you, Father. I will ensure my future matches maintain the same standard."

Draz grinned wide, swallowing his food before speaking up excitedly. "Just wait until tomorrow, Father! Group 1 is up, and I'm going to set the whole ring on fire!"

Mufasa let out a low, rumbling laugh. "Then see to it that your actions match your words, Draz."

Night passed peacefully over Anipla, yielding to the golden hues of early morning.

High above the planet's sky, the cosmic Red Star Colex-5411025 crested the horizon once again, its towering solar flares illuminating the atmosphere. Deep within the core of the burning star, a sudden ripple shattered the sea of liquid fire. A brilliant Red Portal tore open across the surface, swirling with dark crimson energy.

Stepping out from the portal came the Five-Armed Man. Holding his Red Orb in one hand, he closed the crimson rift with a casual flick of his wrist. Placing his heavy weapons back at his side, he sat down once again upon the 54,110,025 degree Celsius plasma, his five eyes turning their cosmic gaze back down toward the tournament grounds on Anipla below. Day 3 was about to begin.

***

The main arena was packed to maximum capacity, the energy of the crowd surging louder than on any previous day. Floating holographic screens hovered over the central ring, displaying the opening match for the morning bracket:

**GROUP 1 — MATCH 11**

**DRAZ VS ALQUIMME**

The heavy iron blast doors of the Eastern Gate ground open with a resonant thud.

Stepping out onto the metallic arena floor was Draz. He walked with a light, bouncy stride, his shoulder-length dark hair swaying as he stretched his arms over his head. An aura of boundless, overwhelming confidence radiated from him. He wore a cocky, eager grin, his sharp eyes scanning the massive arena stands before locking onto the center ring. At ten years old, Draz possessed a natural combat talent that made him entirely fearless, no matter who stood on the opposing side.

Simultaneously, the Western Gate slid open on the far side of the arena.

Walking out from the shadows was his opponent, Alquimme. At thirteen years old, she was three years older than Draz, carrying herself with the practiced poise and calm calculation of an experienced senior competitor. Clutched in her right hand was her primary weapon—a specialized -z tier Staff. The weapon was finely crafted from a sleek, dark violet mineral, topped with a glowing, multi-faceted crystal orb that pulsed with an intense, translucent light. Alquimme was renowned throughout her bracket as a high-tier practitioner who specialized almost exclusively in Mind Type Urja, using psychic blades and spatial telepathy to overwhelm her foes before they could ever draw close.

Alquimme brought the butt of her -z tier Staff down against the reinforced floor, letting out a soft hum of psychic resonance. She looked across the distance at Draz, taking note of his young age and his completely relaxed, unguarded posture.

"You seem very relaxed for someone facing a higher bracket opponent, kid," Alquimme observed, her voice carrying a calm, confident weight across the ring.

Draz chuckled, cracking his knuckles one by one as he bounced slightly on the balls of his feet. "Hey, age doesn't mean much in this ring! I've been waiting all morning for this. Don't hold back!"

The official tournament referee stepped up to the edge of the elevated platform, raising his glowing signal flag high into the air.

"GROUP 1, MATCH 11... BEGIN!"

The referee drove his flag down, and the battle instantly ignited.

Draz didn't wait a single millisecond. Dropping into a low, aggressive stance, he tapped directly into his deep reservoir of dragon energy. A dense, brilliant aura of greenish-blue Urja erupted around his body, swirling like a localized storm. The aura rushed down his arms, condensing around both of his hands until it materialized into massive, razor-sharp reptilian talons forged entirely out of swirling green-blue dragon energy.

**"Dragon Claws!"** Draz bellowed.

Kick-starting his boots off the reinforced floor, Draz shattered the metal tiles beneath his feet, shooting across the arena floor like a greenish-blue comet. He closed the gap between them in the blink of an eye, swiping his right dragon claw downward in a lethal, arc-shaped slash aimed straight at Alquimme's shoulder.

Alquimme's eyes didn't even flicker with surprise. With practiced precision, she lifted her -z tier Staff vertically before her chest and tapped the central crystal orb with her finger.

**"Protect!"** Alquimme commanded smoothly.

A translucent, geometric barrier of dense Normal Type energy instantly materialized around her entire body like a glowing, multi-faceted diamond.

*CLANG!*

Draz's greenish-blue *Dragon Claws* slammed violently into the *Protect* barrier. A massive kinetic shockwave tore outward, blowing dust and air currents across the ring, but the Normal Type barrier held firm, completely absorbing and neutralizing the kinetic impact of his strike without letting a single inch of force reach Alquimme.

Rebounding off the barrier's surface, Draz flipped backward in mid-air to reset his footing. But Alquimme didn't give him the chance to land cleanly.

Spinning her -z tier Staff in a rapid, circular arc above her head, the crystal orb flared with a deep purple radiance. Tapping into her Mind Type specialization, she thrust the staff forward, unleashing three razor-sharp crescents of high-frequency psychic force that cut through the air toward Draz.

**"Psycho Cut!"** Alquimme shouted.

The purple blades of mental energy tore across the space, humming with enough cutting pressure to slice through solid steel.

Mid-air, Draz's grin only widened. Channeling a secondary branch of his draconic power, his greenish-blue aura instantly shifted into a dark, volatile combination of blackish-red Urja. His eyes glowed with fierce intensity as he extended his right fist forward, shaping the dense dark energy around his arm into a sharp, piercing spearhead resembling a roaring dragon's jaw.

**"Dragon Fury!"** Draz yelled, thrusting his arm straight out into the incoming attack.

The blackish-red dragon stab tore through the atmosphere like a dark lance. The sheer, piercing pressure of *Dragon Fury* slammed dead-center into the incoming *Psycho Cut* crescents.

*BOOM!*

The blackish-red dragon energy completely pierced through the psychic blades, shattering the purple mental energy into harmless fragments that dissolved into the ambient air.

Draz landed lightly on his boots, his blackish-red aura still crackling fiercely around his knuckles. "Not bad! But you'll have to do better than—"

Before Draz could finish his sentence, his instinctual battle senses tingled. Alquimme was no longer standing in front of him.

Taking advantage of the brief cloud of fading energy left behind by the collision, Alquimme had tapped into the spatial aspect of her Mind Type mastery.

**"Teleport!"**

Space warped around her frame, and in a instant flash of purple light, she vanished entirely from Draz's forward sightline. A fraction of a second later, a soft displacement of air sounded directly at Draz's left flank, less than two feet away from his exposed side.

Alquimme reappeared instantly, her -z tier Staff already raised and aimed directly at Draz's ribs. The top crystal orb was pulsing with an ultra-compressed sphere of pure, high-density psychic energy that crackled with telekinetic pressure.

**"Psycho Ball!"** Alquimme declared at point-blank range.

The concentrated sphere of Mind Type force erupted from the tip of her staff, slamming directly into Draz's flank before he could fully turn his torso to block.

*KABOOOM!*

The point-blank psychic detonation created a blinding flash of purple light. The sheer telekinetic blast and kinetic force slammed into Draz, shattering his outer aura armor and blasting his body sideways across the arena floor. Draz tumbled through the air, skidding heavily across the reinforced metal tiles for over twenty meters before digging his dragon claws into the floor to arrest his momentum.

A thick plume of smoke rose from the point of impact on the arena floor. The crowd gasped, leaning forward in their seats as the dust began to settle.

Alquimme stood calmly, resting the base of her -z tier Staff on the floor, her purple aura swirling smoothly around her robes. She watched the smoke, expecting the ten-year-old boy to be completely immobilized by a direct, point-blank Mind Type attack.

However, as the dust cleared, Draz slowly pulled himself back up to his feet.

His clothes were slightly scorched at the waist, and a small trail of dust smudged his cheek, but his posture was completely firm. Thanks to his immense physical resilience and inherent dragon defense, he had absorbed the brunt of the explosive impact without taking any severe internal injury.

Draz reached up with the back of his hand, casually wiping the trail of dust from his mouth. He looked over at Alquimme, his dark eyes sparkling with an overwhelming, dangerous wave of excitement.

A massive, wicked grin spread across Draz's face as his blackish-red and greenish-blue dragon Urja began to flare back to life around his body, hotter and more intense than before.

"Man..." Draz chuckled softly, his voice trembling with sheer thrill as he cracked his neck. "...this fight is going to be so good!"
