Chapter 1 - meeting an angle

I am Ava,

your humble college student, learning to become a game developer.

And I am dead.

You may ask, how?

I will just say—All Might's truck hit me while I was trying to save a child.

I hope that kid is safe.

"Hello, child," the god-like being in front of me said.

The god-like being looked like a combination of Dumbledore and Gandalf.

"Yeah, I am," I said, looking around the plain white space.

Imagine the movie where Morgan Freeman played God—like that. "Are you an angel or an actual god?"

"I am one of His angels. My name is Angel 444, and I work as His administrator of the reincarnation division."

"Reincarnation?"

"Yes, like those isekai stories you have read."

Oh, I nodded, thinking about how many reincarnation stories I had read though most of them are trash or full of harem. Which I couldn't say I didn't enjoy harem is a fine genre according to me, but if I said that on Twitter, I'd get canceled.

"So I will be reincarnated then?"

"Yes, child. After all, your life has been balanced; your act of saving the child is seen as a good deed, deserving a second chance."

So that child survived that's good.

"So will I get special powers?"

A giant wheel appeared at the side of him.

"Spin this, and you will understand."

I looked at the giant wheel, with everything listed on it from elves to powers.

Before I could ask for an explanation, the angel answered:

"This is a race-and-power wheel. The result of your spin determines what you get to be in your next life. You could be an elf, a mosquito, a shadow, or a human again. Your powers will also be determined by it."

"Isn't it a terrible way to reincarnate someone?"

The being just shrugged.

"That's the rule of God."

I took a deep breath.

I adjusted myself before looking at the angel one last time, ready to spin the wheel.

The wheel spun quickly. I turned to look at the angel, not wanting to see where it had landed.

"Emm… since we're waiting, can you tell me is this process the same for everyone who saves another person?"

"No."

"You're special because you saved the child that was chosen by another god. We want other people to save the world too."

"So it turns…"

"You were not the champion they wanted, so your death was an accident in the cosmic law. You did a good and just action, which is why you are getting another chance."

"But a child was going to die."

"Millions of children die daily."

I looked away, feeling bad about how many people suffer every day.

I wondered how my family was doing with my death.

Knowing my father and mother, they could be proud of my action.

As for my little shithead brother, he could be crying.

I will miss them.

I thought as the wheel stopped.

" Dragon and sound mind "

I looked, my eyes widening at where the wheel had stopped.

"Hmm… a good spin," the man said, massaging his beard.

"Uh… so…"

"Anyway, you are a dragon now. Goodbye."

I tried to open my eyes, but I couldn't see anything. All around me was darkness—like an endless night sky.

I tried to move, to feel something, but the only thing I sensed was a sticky, glue-like substance surrounding me.

Where is my system screen?

I thought, and suddenly a red system screen appeared in front of me.

There was a clock too.

Time: 12:45 minutes before hatching

Name: NoneLevel: 0Age: 0

Species: Dragon

Skills: [Sound Mind] [Hibernation]

Oh…

Both my age and level are zero, meaning I haven't been born yet.

Please… let my parents be good.

I want good parents… please.
