Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

Threshold (Dr. T)

I was sitting on my throne while three ghosts were kneeling in front of me. They were just looking at me, anger visible in their eyes. They hate it when I catch troublemakers like them.

I like the balance. The supernatural beings don't interfere in the human world and vice versa. Everyone lives their lives as they are supposed to. But some people are way too curious when troublemakers like these show themselves in front of them or haunt people—or worse, possess people.

I try my best to keep the balance. And it works. After all, I'm the most powerful being. But not everything is perfect. I'm not perfect either. To keep the balance at its best and not lose it by chance, I need my bride. Having her by my side will be the best thing. Like that, nobody can shake the balance. But when will the time come when she will stand next to me? That fucking necklace keeps her locked. Keeps her powers, her true self, locked away.Plus, there is her family. Especially her grandma. She's pissing me off already. If it were up to me, I would've dealt with her already. I'm not the type who just sits and waits. But I think of Elara too. I don't want her to be angry at me. My beautiful bride.

However, I think I already made her angry by disappearing just like that. I could feel her trying to reach out to me mentally. But I didn't respond because I wanted to stay focused here. Plus, I would lie if I said I didn't want to see what she would do, how she would act if I didn't talk to her and didn't show up in front of her. I've put a ghost to stalk her to see what she was doing.

"Will you kill us or what? Come on, decide already," the ghost on the left said.

"I see that you are eager to die," I said calmly.

"Not eager, but it's already been a long time since we've been kneeling in front of you. We just want you to decide on our punishment already so everyone can move on," the ghost on the right said.

"I'm pretty sure you're busy," the one on the left said.

"Busy?" the middle one said, then smirked. "With what exactly? Just walking around?"

"Well... Since all three of you are so arrogant, especially you"—I pointed to the middle one—"then I'll give you the punishment you deserve."

Their eyes became as big as onions. I guess they already knew what punishment was coming. But suddenly, I got interrupted.

"My Lord."

The ghost I had put in charge of stalking Elara came in.

My two strongest right-hand men stopped him.

"Nobody is allowed to come in," one of my right-hand men, B, stopped him.

"My Lord, I wouldn't intrude, but it's about my Lady," the ghost said.

B and the other one, C, quickly stepped aside, letting him come next to me.

"Elara? What's wrong with her?" I asked, worried.

"She found out that you are called the Threshold. Also, she found out that she is a powerful being, and now she has started drinking with that so-called boyfriend of hers while getting ready to go clubbing with him," he whispered.

"Thank you. You can go now," I said.

He bowed slightly and left.

Well...

I guess it's time for answers at this point.

"Put them in the maximum-level jail," I said, standing up.

"My Lord, please, no."

"For how long?" B asked.

"Until I say so," I said.

B and C didn't question anything. They just started dragging them out.

The maximum-level jail is the worst nightmare of every supernatural being. They would be tortured over and over again until they truly regretted what they did—or for eternity. Usually, I start the torture myself, but now I had other things to do. I had to rush to Elara and give her the rest of the answers before she started doing stupid things.
