Chapter 22 - Fated Bonds.

Selene Astrae, the Moon Sovereign, sat atop the crystalline dais of her Lunar Sanctum, her eyes reflecting the ethereal glow of the blood moon outside. For centuries, she had orchestrated the delicate balance of the Orders, weaving prophecies and manipulating fates to maintain control over the chaos of the werewolf world. Nothing had ever surprised her not the rise of a rogue Night Wolf, not the betrayal of lieutenants, not even the fractured alliances of the First and Second Orders.

But tonight, a shiver of something unfamiliar rippled through her Lunar Core, and Selene's eyes narrowed to slits. Her Bloodline Resonance pulsed violently, reacting to a presence she had not felt in decades: a bond forming between two beings that were never meant to be intertwined.

Nyss. Her daughter. The precious jewel of her Fourth Order. Always meticulous, disciplined, a shadow in the night, perfect in every way Selene had molded her. But now… she could feel it Nyss's Lunar Core had resonated with someone outside the boundaries Selene had set. Someone forbidden.

"The abomination," she hissed through clenched teeth, voice echoing across the Sanctum like a whip. Her fingers tightened on the edge of the dais, causing faint cracks to spiderweb across the moonstone surface. "That hybrid… that human-turned-werewolf… he dares touch my daughter's soul."

Selene's mind raced. Her prophetic insight had been clear for centuries: the one human-turned-werewolf would rise to challenge the Alphas, a threat that needed to be contained. But she had never anticipated this… a bond forming between her daughter and the abomination. Lunar resonance, instinct control, even hybrid evolution it all pointed to an irreversible connection. They were fated.

And fated mates were more than a bond they were a merging of power.

The implications sent a wave of fury and panic through her. If Nyss, her most prized warrior, shared a core bond with Riven Thorn, the hybrid, the abomination, the prophesied Supreme Alpha… then the very prophecies Selene had sculpted could unravel. Not only could Riven ascend faster with her daughter's presence catalyzing his Lunar Core, but their bond would amplify his Hybrid Evolution in ways even Selene could not predict. The scales of power, carefully balanced across the Orders, would tip and she could lose everything.

Selene rose from her throne, the air around her vibrating with her Lunar Edict. The shadows twisted in response, bending subtly around her form as she extended her senses, reaching across miles to where Nyss and Riven's presence intertwined. The resonance was undeniable. Nyss had touched him unknowingly, perhaps but enough to permanently link their cores.

"Impossible," Selene whispered, rage lacing her tone. "I will not allow it. Not now, not ever."

Her mind flashed back to her daughter, trained to perfection in stealth, precision, and control, sent on countless missions into enemy territories. Nyss had been her instrument of fate, a way to manipulate events without ever stepping into direct conflict. But in bonding with Riven, she had become unpredictable, defying the very order Selene had fought to maintain.

A plan began to form, one forged in anger, precision, and the cold logic of survival. Selene would have to confront this head-on. The abomination could not be allowed to influence her daughter further. And if necessary… she would break the bond herself.

But first, she would observe. She needed to understand the depth of this bond, the strength of their connection, and how it might disrupt the prophecy she had so meticulously manipulated. Selene's eyes burned with the icy fire of centuries of power as she summoned visions of Riven Thorn. The hybrid had grown stronger with every battle, ascending rank by rank, absorbing fragments of Alpha Authority, and now seemingly unstoppable.

Yet even as she assessed him, a twinge of… curiosity mixed with her fury. This hybrid was more than a threat; he was a variable she had never anticipated. The blood moon pulsed violently tonight, reacting to his presence as well. Selene felt it an echo in her own Lunar Core. The abomination's Hybrid Resonance was awakening, syncing with the moon itself, and now intertwined with her daughter.

Selene's jaw tightened. A storm of lunar energy gathered around her, her Ascension Form ready should she need it, but she restrained herself. Patience. Observation. Precision. She would not act rashly. Her daughter's bond with Riven Thorn might yet be the key to controlling or breaking him or it could be the harbinger of her downfall.

For now, she allowed herself to witness the consequences of her orders. Wolves in the distance stirred uneasily as Riven's pack moved through contested territories, unaware of the gaze of the Moon Sovereign. She could feel every heartbeat, every surge of power, and every fluctuation in their Lunar Cores. Nyss's presence amplified Riven's power subtly, and Selene felt it like a knife to her control.

"This bond… cannot remain," she murmured. "I will reclaim my daughter. I will bend her loyalty back to me. And I will ensure the abomination pays for this insolence."

The Sanctum trembled as her fury flared. Lunar energy coalesced into thin, silvery strands that whipped around her like spectral whips. Each strand pulsed with her will, her Alpha Authority, and her Bloodline Art, a warning to any who might underestimate her. Even the very moonlight seemed to bend to her rage, casting eerie shadows across the sanctum's walls.

Selene knew the battles ahead would be unlike any she had fought. Riven Thorn's rise, catalyzed by Nyss, threatened not only the balance of the Orders but the very essence of the prophecy. And yet… in the quiet corners of her mind, a thought she could not dismiss lingered: perhaps the hybrid, this abomination, could become something greater than even she had planned.

But that would come later. For now, there was only one thought burning through her: control. Power. Retribution.

The Moon Sovereign's gaze hardened as she whispered a single command into the shadows:

"Prepare for war. And bring me the abomination… alive."

The sanctum fell silent again, the blood moon casting its ominous glow over the ritual chambers. Outside, the world continued, unaware of the storm gathering of a mother's wrath, a daughter's bond, and a hybrid's rise that threatened to rewrite the rules of the werewolf world.

Selene Astrae had made her decision. Nothing would stop her from asserting her will. Not Riven Thorn. Not the unpredictable Lunar Resonance. And certainly not the daughter who had dared to defy her.

The war of fates had begun.
