Finally, after all the crying, Nightalin, Clarissa, and Mayllen all make it to her room to clean her off. They carefully help her out of the maid outfit, seeing the symbols but also seeing scars that made them worry for the poor girl even more. Clarissa notices their pitying looks as she says, "Don't worry im fine. I've made it this far i'll keep going." She limps into the bathroom and cleans herself, screaming as shes cleaning her wounds, especially the infected ones. She gets out of the shower after 15 mintues hoping they didn't hear her screams. Clarissa grabs the first aid kit and fixes her wounds herself.
Outside the bathroom, both women stand there, finally understanding why every night they heard screaming. as this is happening the men downstairs are handling the maids who mistreated clarissa, caspian says " you are not to hurt her she is under our protection if we find out youve done more than what you have done today you will be fired and we will hire more maids to replace you. Seraphiel agrees with him, saying im not afraid to decline your pay if you have harmed our poor girl. Back upstairs in Clarissa's room, Nightalin and Mayllen are helping her get dressed, reminding her it's okay shes safe. Thank you for helping me, even though I was afraid that I had made you all mad. Both women say, "oh honey, you could never anger us. We care for you, and we know that you watch us." Clarissa looks between the two women, scared, "You knew that I would watch you guys, scared I would embarrass myself in front of you all."
Clarissa looks in her mirror and notices that they put her in a modernized Victorian Gothic dress. They stand on either side of her and loop their arms with hers and say lets go show the guys our pretty little princess. she follows them back to the dining hall, and as soon as they get their both men stand there awestruck by her beauty. Mayllen and Nightalin go to stand by Caspian and Seraphiel and jokingly smack their arms," excuse you, we know shes beautiful but pick up your jaws before you catch flies, dummies."
Both women whisper to Caspian and seraphiel telling them that the one they have been hearing scream every night is Clarissa because she has so many wounds. They also mention that shes their fated mate, which makes all of their powers ignite at once in anger. The room itself starts shaking. Clarissa immediately makes a sphere to protect herself and them from getting hurt. Once the room stops shaking, they call for all the maids, and as they are doing so, she steps in front of the maids using defensive magic to protect them. "Clarissa i will ask this only one time. Move out of the way," Caspian asks.
She just glares at them, you are not ridding of them because of what they have done to me. Let them be. she commands. The four of them look at her, confused and concerned as to why she is protecting those who have hurt her. "clarissa honey its okay, we won't hurt them, we just want to talk with them." Seraphiel says, getting control of the situation, ladies, how about you take her to our shared room and we'll all talk there. The women leave the room and leave the men to fire the maids, as Clarissa is still afraid they will hate her more, as they lost their jobs because of her.
Clarissa starts rocking back and forth in fear as they now enter the room that all five of them will share. She sits on the floor trying to ground herself so she doesn't start repeating it, make it stop, make it stop, make it stop. Both women sit beside her, and she crawls into Mayllen's lap, feeling safe with her. Soon after Caspian and Seraphiel enter the room, they rush to her, trying to soothe her. After some time, she snuggles into Caspian's embrace as he holds her, calming down to the sound of his heartbeat. he picks her up and carefully lays her in the center of their shared bed.
They choose who's going to lie closest to her; it ends up being Caspian, Mayllen, Clarissa, Nightalin, and finally Seraphiel in their specialty-made family bed. With the girls this close to her, she feels comfortable and safe to snuggle with them, and she automatically starts snuggling with Mayllen. Feeling safe, they all sleep through the night until Clarissa starts screaming from a nightmare, unable to stop. She pauses her breath, the girls immediately hold her and comfort her, but it's not working like it needs to. She moves herself between Caspian and Mayllen and effortlessly calms down. Clarissa asks, "May I have permission to hear your heartbeat again, as it's the only way for me to calm down?"
Caspian tells her," yes you can, darling, but only for tonight." Clarissa looks towards Mayllen for confirmation, and she nods. After getting confirmation, Clarissa leans her head on him and no longer has any nightmares for the night. They all take notice of this as she sleeps peacefully on him. They realize the next day her closest bond is going to be with Caspian and, unknowingly, Nightalin.
