Chapter 30 - The brothers love and care

HIJOI'S POV

Silvia Kingdom-2124 AD

The child's cries could be heard. That child was none other than me. The blood grazed Hojoi's palm, waking him up to the smell of iron. He gulped in pain, sensing his left arm was broken.

He slowly raised his brows to see me, covered in blood, sobbing. Hojoi felt guilt in his heart. That day, I killed everyone who attacked our small, happy place we called home. I still…don't understand why that happened; my small brain still cannot comprehend it.

Humans killing Humans! Why? Why do we have to kill to survive? These thoughts bothered me more than my parents' deaths. But that day, I had sworn a fake revenge.

I turned back to see the bloody mess. In the middle was Hojoi, gasping, tearing up as he realised what was going on.

I checked the murderer's clothes, the royal of Silvia! I felt anger, even though I had no clue what that even meant.

Hojoi, after checking the clothes, went numb, as if he understood who the royals were.

I never had an interest in politics, and my father also kept me away from it, always teaching the history of the Lemoyne raiders. Cruel, ruthless bastards, he described them. I slowly started to believe that a ruthless bastard is the kind of leader we humans deserve.

Who would've thought that the leader I started aspiring to would arrive so soon?

I helped Hojoi sit on the ground; his hands and body trembled in fear. His eyes had no soul. Meanwhile me who was still sobbing but had a straight face still trying to solve everything.

I saw a shadow form on the crimson red floor. Alertly, I raised my fist back and tried punching the person behind me.

My arm was grabbed by a mysterious person. His hair was weird to look at. It was black, but at the same time blonde. His forehead had stitches, the same goes for his arms, his legs, or even his entire body, perhaps.

He had a smile on his face. It was a kind one. How big a fool was I to get into his illusion?

That deceptive smile turned into a straight, serious look.

He left my arm when I keenly glared at his soul. My Mana Vision activated, and I could understand his emotions now. He was genuinely sad; it was not a deception!

" What happened here, kids?" Two more people appeared from the dawn, entering my home, now turned into a house. One was a man with long hair, and the other was a woman with short hair. Did they swap hair? My childhood innocent self asked himself.

The woman spoke," I heard that the Royals were finding the members of the Spector clan to eliminate them, to avoid a rebellion. They probably heard of this poor kid's family and arrived to kill them."

She had a straight face while telling this. Why wasn't she disgusted by that fact? I pondered in that instance.

The weird hair guy sighed before ducking down to reach my level of height. He gave a charming smile, and my Mana Vision again detected that this wasn't any kind of deception. I trusted him and fell tired on his chest while tears dripped from my pathetic eyes.

He gently bruised my head using his left hand with a sad face. For some reason, this was half deceptive. I still don't know why.

Hojoi let out a breath before saying, while his lips trembled," They…Th…They killed mother and father…" Each word was annoying to listen to. But the weird hair guy didn't seem to feel annoyed. Instead, he left me to Hojoi's grasp and stood up before lowering his open palm.

" Wanna join Lemoyne Raiders?" He closed his eyes to show his love," Don't worry, we will feed you a lot!"

Our parents were buried near a sacred temple in Moscow. I never came to the capital of the Silvia kingdom before this. My home and the school were what made up the life I lived.

For the very first time, I felt freedom, the freedom to go wherever you want. Now there was someone who was protecting us, the curious brothers.

Both Hojoi and I had awakened in that incident. I didn't know if I wanted to be happy about it or to be sad about it.

Our whole life, we lived in a deception that this was a perfect world, but that deception broke when we met those Royals.

" Hojoi-" I spoke first, trying to make things calm," Are you joining Lemoyne?" Even though I knew that Hojoi was the eldest, for some reason, I had the urge to be the good brother.

" Yeah-" His throat produced the sound of a grunt, aggression," He saved us, so it is our responsibility to help him bring freedom to Silvia Kingdom.

The wind blew his hair, and the sunlight formed a rainbow around him.

" But-" I stopped his mouth," I don't know why, I am…I am scared that I will lose you, too!" My eyes turned to the two graves in front of us. I had believed that fighting was useless. Yeah, sure, I killed those Royals to save Hojoi, and also for revenge. But, did it solve anything?

" Shouldn't we stop fighting and end this cycle of violence?" I asked with a timid voice. I was lying to myself. I loved butchering those Royals! But…what about those innocents mentioned in father's lessons?

Hojoi gave an annoyed look, like he was disappointed in me," The hypocrisy in your words!" He was not wrong. I did kill those people, and then I am asking to stop fighting?

My eyes dimmed with sadness flooding in them as I saw the only picture of our family below the gravestones. I was so happy then; now, I am just sorrowful, trying to crack jokes amidst battles to forget that I am tormenting someone's life.

Oh lord Kamui! What have I become?

Am I the saviour or a slave?

" Come on now!" Hojoi shouted at me while walking past a car.

I turned back and followed him, trying to forget about what I was thinking.

Before entering the car, he said one last thing to me," You know, life is pretty lame!"

" Hojoi!" I called him.

We were both sitting on the rooftop of an apartment, looking at the green-blue scenery of Silvia Kingdom. Oh, nature is the best thing!

I still remember how the wind blew our long hair back.

" You are saying that we need to go to Luvinia?"

" Yeah! I know it is a bit of a drag to travel from Moscow to Tokyo, but just keep it chill, everything will work out, I promise!" Hojoi replied to my question.

" So! What are you guys talking about?" Labrica asked tauntingly. She is my senior but acts like a sister. She patted my head before sitting at the centre, a bit behind us.

" Ahh…nothing! Just enjoying the calm winds and view!" Hojoi replied with a smirk.

" Well…you are also coming with us, right?" I asked her, trying to continue the conversation.

" Oh, well of course! Can't leave you, homewreckers, alone. Well, atleast that is what Lord Mars ordered."

" Were you able to find, Shinsu?" Hojoi asked with a slight disgust in his tone.

" No!" A slight rageful grunt left from her words," But I will find and kill her!"

I again didn't get it. Why can anyone enjoy killing another being of the same species? I am a hypocrite, that's the answer. But all humans are hypocritical, that is the cruel nature's law.

" Hey!" Labrica pulled my cheeks, trying to wake me up.

" Ouch! Cut it out!" I brushed her arm off in slight anger.

" You are probably thinking, why is it necessary to take revenge, or some bullshit like that, am I right?" She smirked, knowing very well that she was correct.

I sighed before replying," I just want to see you both live happily, get married or something!"

Labrica blushed slightly before giving a large, audible chuckle. She hugged Hojoi from behind before replying," It doesn't matter if we are married or not! We are a match made in heaven. Even if any of us die, we will keep loving each other forever! Am I right?" She slightly looked at Hojoi, intimidating him.

" Uhh…I guess!" She got really annoyed and smacked the back of his head.

I couldn't control my laughter after seeing this.

I hope…you both live peacefully!

" You know…" Hojoi said with a smile," Life is pretty lame!"

Narrator's POV

" Huh?" Hijoi glared at the bloody cafe in shock.

I hope…you bo-*^#. His inner mind glitched.

No tears formed; just a face of shock remained on his pale face.

Labrica, in shock, couldn't control her tears as she dropped to the ground, her body releasing vapours.

Shinsu's dark black sword pierced right through Hojoi's neck, his half-burnt body, while she flew just above him.

She pulled the sword back and landed further from the bloody mess.

Hojoi's body resisted death. He covered the pierced wound with his palm as he heard heartbeats echoing across his body, trying to pump blood for the last time.

He closed his eyes, and memories flashed. The time he confessed to Labrica, the time he spent with his younger brother, and the time he saw his parents' deaths. His whole life flashed for a mere second before he sighed.

The brothers' eyes met as Dunn, from behind, glared at the scene.

Labrica's body trembled in fear as tears formed in her eyes.

" You know!" Hojoi shouted with a giant smile gracing his half-burnt body as blood pumped out of his neck;

" Life was pretty good with you two in it!"
